February Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

Part of the Andalucia region, Sotogrande continues to see the mild temperatures and increased rainfall that Mediterranean climates are known for in the winter months. February sees a little less rainfall than last month, down to 89 mm, compared to the 102 mm seen in January. The rain falls over 11 days in the month, so it's not a bad idea to have an umbrella or poncho packed to have on hand each day. The chance of rain is 60% each day.

The average daily temperature for this part of southern Spain sits around 13°C (about 56°F), decent enough to spend some time outside during the warmest parts of the day. The highs start getting up to 16°C (about 61°F), hinting towards the spring to come. At night, the lows get down to 10°C (around 50°F), so you'll definitely want a warm coat or jacket for being outside during those times. During the day, long-sleeved shirts and trousers will suffice.

With an average of 6 hours of sunshine each day, you'll have ample time to head out and enjoy the sights of the resort. The chance of having a sunny day is 20% and the chance of clouds is also 20%. It's breezy this time of the year, with an 80% chance of a windy day. Bring along a hat to stay warm, especially near the coast where the wind blows stronger.

The average ocean temperature this month is 15°C (around 59°C), pretty chilly for doing any swimming or trying water sports. You can still get down to the beach, but watch out for the strong breezes blowing through this time of the year. This part of Europe has seen a high all the way up to 24°C (around 75°F) and a low down to 4°C (about 39°F).

Where to Stay

For a little extra space and privacy during your February stay, check out the Apartments Don Juan in nearby Manliva. Choose from the studio, one bedroom, or two-bedroom option, all with fully-equipped kitchens and private terraces or balconies. All the apartments also come with pull-out sofa bed, television, and washing machine. You'll appreciate the 24-hour reception desk, two large swimming pools, private beach access, and beach promenade.

At Aldiana Alcaidesa, you'll enjoy all the amenities of a large resort close to all the action. You'll be treated to day and nighttime activities, theatre, nightclub, shopping, botanical gardens, swimming pools, and on-site restaurants and bars. The 334 rooms come with private bath and bidet, telephone, television, minibar, and private balcony or terrace. Depending on your needs, choose from the single, double, triple, or family room.

Part of a colourful complex of apartments and penthouses, the Marina Penthouse has room for four adults with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It looks right over the Sotogrande Marina and is close to dining and entertainment options. The penthouse has several outdoor terraces with views of the water and the city, as well as loungers and a barbeque grill. You also have access to the complex's swimming pool and gardens.

Things to Do

Take the afternoon and head to the village of Torreguadiaro, found just east of Sotogrande. Here, you'll find several quaint cafes to enjoy a bite to eat or a drink as you watch the waves wash ashore and the world go by. The town was named for the two watch towers located west of the village, used in the 1500s as guides for sailors approaching the shoreline.

The San Roque Town Centre Street Market takes place every Sunday at the Ejido Fairground, near the San Roque Town Centre. It's a great place to enjoy a cooler February day. While there, you'll find lots of homemade and local crafts, foods, and souvenirs to take home to your family and friends. After you're done shopping at the market, check out San Roque and its quaint shops, restaurants, and bars.

Go on a guided tour of the Carteia Archaeological Site, open from Wednesday through Sunday. Tours take place four times a day at 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, and 1 pm and meet at the site in Guadarranque. During the one-hour tour, you'll see a Roman forum, temple, domus, watch tower, fisheries, and a World War II bunker. The tour is free and you are encouraged to wear sturdy walking shoes.

Eating and Drinking Out

At La Verandah, you'll be treated to amazing Spanish and Mediterranean cooking. The menu includes dishes like lamb tagine, empanadas, and patatas brava. You'll also find several fresh fish and seafood dishes. If you're in a sharing mood, the restaurant has a large tapas menu as well, with small plates to share with the table. You can dine inside or enjoy the breezes blowing across the outdoor terrace.

When you dine at La Terraza de Teo, you'll be treated to authentic Spanish and Mediterranean dishes. On the menu you'll find Iberian ham of Bellota, grilled white prawns, grilled duck liver, pork sirloin fillet, and small squid. Be sure to save room for dessert with choices like lemon sherbet with gin tonic, white chocolate parfait, cheese mousse cake, and chocolate cake with orange cream.

Housed in one of the first of Sotogrande's homes, La Cabana de Sotogrande has a storied history in the area and is part of the NH Sotogrande Hotel. During the colder months, dine inside next to the roaring fireplace and in the summer, head out to the large and airy porch. The menu is full of Spanish and Mediterranean dishes, as well as desserts and cocktails, beers, and wines.
