What's the Weather Like in Sorrento in December

December is one of the coolest months of the year in Sorrento, a gorgeous town on southern Italy's Amalfi coast.


The average temperature doesn't climb above 10°C this time of yeart is at 9°C in December. Only January has a lower average temperature. At night, the mercury drops to a quite chilly 5°C, which is the third coldest nighttime temperature of the entire year. During the day, the temperature rises to an average high of 13°C, the same as in February. Frost is still extremely unlikely in Sorrento, though.

This rather chilly sea temperature combined with the cool temperatures and likelihood of rain mean that it is not recommended that you go swimming this time of year.

Guided Tours

Even though this is the wettest, coolest and darkest time of the year, there are still plenty of things to do in and around Sorrento. You can go on guided tours to nearby attractions such as Naples, Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii, the island of Capri, or Herculaneum.

Additionally, the museums and historic landmarks in the town centre are definitely worth visiting as well.
