June Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

Weather Lowdown

June is the time of year when the weather really starts to get warm again in Puerto de Santiago. The average sea temperature goes up to around 21°C, which means that it is definitely time to take a dip! Watch out for the beach, as the black sand in this region can be hotter than you would expect!

With 12 hours of sunshine a day, it's no wonder that the average daily temperature has increased to 21°C, meaning that you will feel the same warmth whether you are in the water or out of it. The average highs can go up as far as 26°C, while the lows can only sink to a very mild 20°C.

While it is already quite hot, the peak of the summer sun does not come until August, which means that some hotels may still be relatively quiet. Make sure that you keep an eye on the weather forecast to know how much sunscreen you are going to need, particularly if you are heading out on an excursion, as the sun can be relentless here. You not need to worry much about rain, however: on average, only two days of this month will see any rain at all, and just 7mm will fall between them. This means that even if you do get caught in a shower, you can be confident that it will pass very soon!

The summer has definitely started now, and this is reflected in a hot and dry climate. Don't underestimate your need for hydration keep topping up with bottled water or juices, and remember to take a bottle with you if you are going out. Remember that the good weather does not always reflect calm seas, so you may need to watch out for flags in the water that signify whether or not it is safe to go swimming.

Where to Stay

The IBH Apt Diamond offers beautiful and modern apartments which will be even more enjoyable in the June sun. Each apartment offers a sea view from the full furnished balcony, as well as an American-style kitchen so that you can prepare your own food if needed.

At the Barcelo Varadero you will find a beautiful 3 star resort that has a large pool area for you to enjoy. There is also a children's club and a full entertainment programme, so you will never feel bored while you are here!

Alternatively, the Apartments Colonial Parque are a great option. Here you will be just a stone's throw away from local amenities such as a supermarket and restaurants, all of which you can even view from your balcony before deciding where to go.

Things to Do

Picking up a new skill is a great way to spend your holiday, so be sure to take advantage of the June heat and cool off in the water. You could learn how to scuba dive or how to surf in this area. Neither discipline is easy, but they are both lots of fun to try. Book a lesson or two and see how you do! Plenty of local dive and surf schools will be available, and you might even be able to book a lesson right from your hotel desk if they have links to local businesses.

You will have to drive or take a coach to nearby Adeje to experience Helidream Canarias, but it's worth it all the same. A helicopter ride is something that most people really can only dream of, but here you will get the chance to see the local scenery from above.

While you are there or if you prefer to remain on the ground you can also visit Barranco del Infierno, a natural area of beauty where you can walk or hike for a great view. Only 300 people a day are allowed to enter the trail in order to preserve the natural flora and fauna of the area.

Hit the Beach

The beach at Los Gigantes is only a 10 minute drive from Puerto de Santiago and is one of the lesser crowded beaches in the area, particularly in June, so you may want to give it a go.

Set under towering cliffs it is an impressive site and there are plenty of amenities. A marina, watersports and a diving centre ensure this area is suitable for more active visitors with an interest in marine life or getting out on the waves. Gorgeous views, sun-loungers and toilets means the beach has all you could need for a day away from your hotel lapping up the sunshine.

Restaurants and Nightlife

You can get a great dinner service at Azafran, where all of your meals are taken against the backdrop of the sea. They serve seafood and international dishes, all made perfectly to a premium recipe. This is a fantastic place for an upmarket dinner.

Le Bon Coin Canario is a café and wine bar that serves Spanish food as well. This is a good choice for a cheap and cheerful lunch or dinner, which is sure to satisfy with huge servings.

You could also try Fettuccine Inn, where traditional Italian and pizza dishes are served. This clean and bright space is tucked out of the way around a corner, but exploration will always be rewarded here.
