What's the weather like in Naples in December

Celebrations during December in Naples should certainly be experienced by everyone at least once, as the city welcomes visitors in the most festive of ways. Obviously, December is winter, and that means lower temperatures than previous months, with an average of around 10°C, reaching a high of up to 13°C a warm jacket will be needed for visits to Naples during December, as the average low can reach a very chilly 6°C.

Another thing you may need is an umbrella; December is not the wettest month, however Naples does experience an average of 100mm of rain throughout the month, which can affect 14 days.

Sunshine Hours

Sunshine hours are also decreased, to an average of 3 per day.

Sea Temperature

The Mediterranean Sea isn't the place to be heading during this month, as it sits at a very chilly average of 16°C.

Despite the grip of winter and the cooler temperatures, Naples is protected to some degree from freezing cold, thanks to the mountains and the Bay of Naples, which the city sits in.

Naples Hotels in December

Christmas is a wonderful time to visit Naples, as the city bathes in winter light and decorations to celebrate the festive season. Again, you will need to book your accommodation early at this time of year, as crowds do tend to flock for weekend breaks, but there is no shortage of choice.

Hotel Nuvo

Hotel Nuvo is a newly opened hotel, set in modern and bright surroundings, yet a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This is a central hotel, great for business or leisure visitors.

Hotel Bovio Suite

Alternatively, Hotel Bovio Suite sits you right in the heart of the city, and you can choose to stay in a comfortable suite to up the glamour stakes a little.

Bars and Restaurants

Culture Café

If you're staying in Naples for the festive period then it is always worthwhile booking your table well ahead of time regardless of where you're planning on going. If however you're simply looking for somewhere to enjoy a meal of sushi and a few drinks before the festive period, head to Culture Café and enjoy the modern surroundings and delicious food. The desserts are rather delicious here too.

For a truly colourful and fun night out, head to PubLo. This is an establishment with an Irish bar vibe, music, entertainment, and delicious food which is quite westernised, such as hotdogs and burgers for example. This is a great change of pace pub to head to, if you're finding Italian restaurants a little samey.

Bar Mexico

Finally, we can't talk about any Italian city and not mention coffee. A cup of java is a ritual here, and one of the best has to be found in Bar Mexico. Widely thought to offer the best range of coffee, with the best taste, you simply have to try a cup here to have experienced the coffee culture of Naples.

Christmas time

Of course, many of those celebrations centre around food and drink, and we know that Italian food is certainly up there with some of the best in the world. It makes sense then that you should be experiencing it to the max!

Food Tours of Naples

You can even go on a pizza cooking class, teemed with a market tour, which is a very popular choice of activity.

Walking Food Tour

If you want to walk off the food you're consuming, then a walking food tour is for you. This takes around three hours and you will learn about street food and the culture around it, which is very popular on the go in Naples. You also get to sightsee as you move along, checking out such wonders as Teatro di San Carlo and the Royal Palace too. This is a great way to combine two activities in one lot of time.

Irpinia Wine Region

Maybe its wine you're more interested in, and in that case you're certainly in luck! There are many vineyards around Naples, and a private tour is the best way to learn about how wine from this region is made, and of course taste a bit of it too!
