What's the Weather like in Phi Phi in September

September in Koh Phi Phi marks the end of the summer months and sees an increase in rain as we get into the final push of the wet season. The rainiest of all months, don't expect to see much time on the beach as there is higher chances of bad weather around this time of year. The average temperature in September is 28 C (82.4 F) making it the last month with a mid-range temperature before it gets lower.

The beginning of the month has highs and lows of 30.1 C (86 F) and 24 C (75 F) as it continues its linear trend from August. Chance of rainfall around this time of month is around 60% which matches the highest points of all other months in the wet season while still being the lowest in September; so prepare for mostly rainy days.

As the middle of the month approaches the highs reach their peak at around 30.4 C (86.7 F) and the lows peak up to 24.4 C (76 F) making this the warmest part of the month. The rainfall continues its upward climb hitting the peak of the year on September 19th at 68% chance of rainfall which is a little more than 2 out of 3 chances that it will rain around this time.

Things get calmer at the end of the month as the highs revert back to 30.1 C (86 F) and the lows back to 24 C (75 F) for the most part being consistent with the beginning of the month, so for the coolest times to visit, try the first or last week of September. As the temperature returns to its root so does the rain with the peak of the yearly wet season having hit its full potential as it slowly rests in a downward trend until the start of the dry season.

Phi Phi Hotels in September

After a long day out and about in Koh Phi Phi it is a great feeling to be able to kick your feet up and relax in a beach bungalow or resort. With so many places to choose around the island it may be hard to make up your mind, but there are a couple that stand out.

For a luxury style resort on the beach Arayaburi Resort is a wonderful choice. It is complete with 2 private beach areas, an outdoor pool, a hotel restaurant with International cuisines, and villas with satellite TV and personal safes. You can also enjoy a Thai massage or try fishing and snorkeling among great spots around Laem Hin Beach. This is a superb choice if you are looking for the full Koh Phi Phi resort experience.

Another great choice to stay is the Mama Beach Residence which is nestled on the best part of Ao Ton Sai Beach about 5 minutes from the main part of the island. This is a great place to stay if you want to be close to all attractions in Koh Phi Phi, so that you won't have to hike far. Highlights include pearly white rooms with flat screen TVs, Seaside yoga classes, and delicious Thai and French dishes at the hotel restaurant.

Bars and Restaurants

Whether you like fine dining or just a good old fashioned sports bar and grill to watch your favorite sports team, Koh Phi Phi will have it. Also since September is the peak of the wet season, prices are at their lowest of the year and you can find your choice of quiet ambiances or lively ambiances.

If you like fine dining and romantic dinners by the ocean with a prime view of the stars you will definitely want to visit Ciao Bella during your stay. This Italian restaurant serves a wide range of menu options from delicious pizza to a freshly grilled salmon fillet. The food compliments the location on Ao LoDalam Beach and the cozy bungalows make for great accommodations after a complete dinner.

How about something more casual with a BBQ buffet and capable of providing some mid-day lunch after a long day exploring the island? If that sounds enticing, you will want to head to Matt's Joint which is around the Tonsai Bay area. This place serves BBQ that can rival places in the USA and best of all it is an inexpensive buffet, oh and don't forget to order a delicious malt shake.

Things to do in Phi Phi in September

The great thing about Koh Phi Phi is that there is always something to do year round even during the peak of the wet season in September. More often than not, you will see more people gathered in bars and restaurants while they let the rain pass and wait for an opportunity to get back on the beach. This is because even though it is rainy, Koh Phi Phi is still beautiful place to be around this time.

Nothing is better than being all warm and cozy in a café during a rainy day in Koh Phi Phi and a great place for that is D's Books. This cozy little café in the heart of Tonsai Village has a nice set of books and great tasting coffee to go along with your reading. You can also enjoy great Wifi connectivity, but good luck finding a seat as it gets packed with internet lovers especially on a rainy day.

Enjoy the nice view of Ao Ton Sai and play a game of pool at Chuckit Bar and Karaoke. Grab a bar stool and listen to some live bands, order an island style cocktail and relax, or gain the courage to sing karaoke in front of the islands populous, either way this place is delightful whether it is raining or not.

For something a little more extreme why not try climbing a limestone cliff at the Hin Taak Climbing Area. Take a long-tail boat ride around the main bay to these stunning island cliffs and learn how to climb from your choice of certified climbing shops around the island. Don't worry too much about the rain as on a good day in September (which does exist) it will only rain lightly.

Go diving in the most exotic locations around the island with Sea Bees Diving. This diving center located in the Holiday Inn Resort is on the Northern part of the island with access to more secluded beaches away from the crowds. They offer everything you'd expect with diving courses, day trips, and night trips and have developed a great reputation for beginners.
