What's the weather like in Costa Teguise in June

Costa Teguise, Spain, may be a part of the Canary Islands resort of Lanzarote, but it's also very multicultural due to its prime oceanfront location. The town is situated just 10 miles from nearby Arrecife Airport, with direct flights from many major European airports, and there's also regular ferries from the town to Cádiz, Gran Canaria, Puerto del Rosario, and Tenerife.

Temperature

As with other resorts in Lanzarote such as Playa Blanca, summer arrives into Costa Teguise in June, and the tourist season truly begins. It's hot in the town during June, with temperatures rarely dropping much below 20°C even overnight, and reaching up to the mid to high 20's, averaging around 26°C in the hottest part of the day. While rainfall remains a steady and minimal 10 mm, sea temperatures rise significantly to 21°C, making it an excellent time for a taking a dip.

On average, the month of June is characterized by rising daily high temperatures, with daily highs staying around 25°C, exceeding 27°C or dropping below 22°C only one day in ten.

Daylight and Sunshine Hours

During June the length of day stays essentially constant. The shortest day of the month is June 1st with 13:53 hours of daylight whilst the longest day is June 18th with 13:60 hours of daylight. The amount of sunshine hours are also the same as the month of May at 11 hours per day.

Costa Teguise Hotels in June

The 75 apartments at Tabaiba Centre Apartamentos sleep between two and five guests and cost from as little as £16 per night. The complex boasts two swimming pools, a children's playground area, a restaurant, and an onsite bar.

Apartamentos Celeste offers traditional and affordable apartments in the heart of the resort. All of the self-catering apartments come with well-equipped kitchenettes and their own sun terraces, some of which even overlook the inviting outdoor pool.

The H10 Lanzarote Gardens are a three-star resort made up of self-catering apartments and bungalows. The complex is located just a short walk away from Playa de las Cucharas Beach and offers its very own outdoor swimming pool and wide range of activities for all ages including tennis and a kids club. H10 also features an onsite restaurant that serves a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.

Another affordable option to try is the two-star Apartamentos Neptuno. The complex offers comfortable and modern rooms that come with a small kitchen area, fridge and kettle. There is also a restaurant located in the same building, which is actually one of the most people restaurants in the resort, if not the whole of Lanzarote named simply 'Neptuno Restaurant.' 

Costa Teguise Beach for June

Playa de las Cucharas is the most popular beach in Costa Teguise. This beautiful golden beach offers a number of facilities including sun loungers, parasols, cafes, restaurants and bars. There is also a lifeguard present on the beach during the summer months. A number of water sports can also be found here including windsurfing!

However, if you prefer a more secluded option you may want to spend the day at Caleta Caballo Beach which is located to the La Santa Club. The beach is only 60m long but offers clean fine white sand and crystal clear waters with moderate waves which should be safe for swimming. The beach is located in a rural area but there is a parking area nearby as well as a bus route.

Bars and Restaurants

Surfwings Bar is a delightful little bar located right by the beach in Costa Teguise. This place serves international cuisine and offers a vast array of mouthwatering cocktails and ice cold beer, which comes as a welcome relief on a hot summers day!

Hennessey's Irish bar, located in Costa Teguise is one of the liveliest bars in town. This pub boasts stunning views out onto the beach and ocean. The bar also stocks a great array of beers and ales from Guinness to Bailey's, whilst if you're feeling a little bit peckish they also serve snacks and meals throughout the day.

Restaurante Grill la Vaca Loca is a family-friendly restaurant situated in the resort of Costa Teguise. The restaurant serves a variety of Mediterranean and international classics at a very affordable price. Plus, if you're staying in self-catering accommodation you may be interested to know they also offer takeaway pizzas.

Last but not least, Oscar's is a Belgian owned restaurant located in Costa Teguise. This place offers a variety of international dishes from the classic Caesar salad to steak and chips. If you have a sweet tooth why not try one of their delicious Belgian waffles with cherries and chocolate sauce.

Things to do in Costa Teguise in June

WaveSisters offers yoga and surf camps for girls of all ages and abilities. Relax with yoga right in the heart of the nature reserve "Archipielago Chinijo" found in the fishing village of Famara, which is located far away from the mass tourism of Lanzarote. Also, make the most of the surf courses on offer at Famara, where you can sign up to a total of 20 hours of surf lessons which include boards and wetsuits!

However, Costa Teguise also offers its very own water sports center open to everyone. Pro Center Antxon Otaegui offers courses in windsurfing for all abilities whether you're a beginner or an advanced surfer. However, if you consider yourself a more experienced surfer you can also hire out a board too and head out on your own.

If you're planning on heading to Arrecife for the day you should definitely visit the Castillo de San Jose Museum. The museum is located inside the castle, a fortress which was built between 1776 and 1779 by King Carlos III to protect Lanzarote from Pirate attacks. At the museum you can find out about the history of the island, as well as the castle and even a number paintings of the famous architect and artist Cesar Manrique are on display.

The Costa Teguise Golf Club is one of the most impressive courses on the island, that features 18 challenging holes designed by John Harris in 1978. The course includes over 3000 palm trees and an impressive backdrop including an extinct volcano! The overall design of the course is soft and varied with various obstacles such as sand bunkers and sloping hills to make your way around.

Dates for the diary

June is usually a rather exciting time sports-wise in Costa Teguise, as the Professional Windsurfers Association stop off during their world tour. The PWA Championships took place in the town from 2005 to 2011, and are expected to continue to visit Lanzarote in the future. The windy conditions on Costa Teguise's coast are ideal for water sports, and the arrival of the PWA emphasises that. Watching the professionals do their thing on the waves is a truly unique and fascinating experience.

Corpus Christi is one of June's most colourful events. The best celebrations take place in the capital of Arrecife. On the Saturday afternoon, following Corpus Christi locals create carpets of sea salt in different colourful designs along the roads and pavements around the church of San Gines in Arrecife. The date of this event tends to change every year so make sure to look out for posters in case of any changes.

St. John's Day (San Juan) is celebrated every year in the Canary Islands on June 24th. The day marks the rich history and culture of Lanzarote and marking Summer Solstice. Many parties and festivals are held across the island including outdoor concerts, traditional rituals, live music, sporting competitions and fireworks displays to celebrate!
