Brighton Weather May Averages, United Kingdom
May sees the beginning of spring in Brighton and the weather warms up considerably.
Average temperatures are around 12°C but, in recent years, summer-like heat waves have been enjoyed during May. The UK climate means the weather can be unpredictable at this time of the year, so it's best to come prepared with a warm coat or jacket and layers of clothing.
There is less wet weather from May onwards; however, sudden showers are to be expected.
The warmer weather means that it's easier to take advantage of Brighton's outdoor attractions, though it may not be beach weather yet.
One great way to make sure you see the entire city and make the most of your stay is by doing the Brighton city walk. The 90 minute walking tour is led by an extremely knowledgeable local guide who will take you around all of the major attractions and provide a detailed insight into the city's history. The tour is highly acclaimed and recommended by all that have been on it.
Alternatively, you can relax aboard a double-decker bus and be driven around the city's sites. The hop-on hop-off bus rides take you to the major attractions and allow you to explore on your own when you want to make a stop.
Music lovers will enjoy The Great Escape. The delegate festival sees bands take over local pubs, bars and music venues over the four day festival with everything from local acts to internationally acclaimed bands.
When you're looking for accommodation, Jury's Inn has a great location, right next to Brighton Station. There's also a large car park right next door to the hotel, so it's also convenient if you're driving to Brighton rather than taking the train. The hotel offers good value for money and comes recommended by past guests.
For a stay on the seafront, the Amsterdam Hotel is in Kemp Town, on the seafront and in the heart of the city. The rooms offer fantastic sea views and it is minutes away from Brighton Pier and the Brighton Wheel.
