Dia de Canarias
On 30 May every year the Canary Islands as a whole celebrate Dia de Canarias, or Canary Islands' Day. This is a great time to visit Amadores, because you will be witness to all manner of fun celebrations, including concerts, Canarian wrestling, local food, dancing, and music basically everything and anything Canarian is celebrated on the day. You could stay in Amadores and enjoy the festivities, or head off to any of the surrounding resorts and towns, where you will find even more in the way of celebratory fun.
Maspalomas Sand Dunes
Of course, being in the south of the island means you're in very close proximity to the famous sand dunes at Maspalomas. It would be crime not to visit these wonders when you're so close, and you can choose to either have a camel ride across the dunes, a jeep ride, or simply gaze at them yourself; they really are quite a sight to see.
