What's the weather like in Palma in February?

Temperature

The weather in Palma on MajorcaSpain, during February is very similar to that in January. Temperatures range from 5°C in the middle of the night to 15°C in the afternoon. These low and high temperatures are exactly the same as they were the previous month. Both temperatures stay essentially constant throughout the month, with possibly a tiny increase toward the end. February is the second coldest month of the year in Palma. The overall average temperature is 10°C, the same as January and one degree colder than in December. In March, the temperature will increase to an average of 12°C. The sea temperature averaging 15°C. This is definitely no weather to spend your days on the beach. It is, however, excellent weather for other outdoor activities.

Sunshine Hours

An average day in February receives 8 hours of sunshine.

First, the days are still very short, though they do lengthen significantly in the course of the month. February 1 is the shortest day with 10.10 daylight hours; February 28 is the longest day with 11.17 hours of daylight. This 1.07-hour increase means that each day is 2.3 minutes longer than the previous one.

Cloud Cover

The second reason is the high cloud cover. February is the cloudiest month of the year, with February 7 as historically the year's cloudiest day (45% of cloud cover). Cloud cover averages 44% and stays virtually constant throughout February. This percentage doesn't mean that it's extremely cloudy though. A typical day in February has clear or mostly clear skies 46% of the time, partly cloudy skies 29% of the time, and is overcast or mostly cloudy 20% of the timehis explains the 7 sunshine hours out of 10 to 11 daylight hours, which is not bad by any means.

Rainfall

In terms of rainfall, February is definitely in the wetter half of the year. The total amount of precipitation is 40mm, which is spread out over 8 days with rainfall. The exact same numbers are recorded in March and September as well. The probability that you will experience rainfall on any given day doesn't vary much in the course of the month and stays around 34%. The most common type of rainfall, by far, is moderate rain, which happens on 49% of the days with rainfall. Drizzle is second most likely, occurring on 21% of the days with precipitation. Light rain and thunderstorms happen on 13% and 10% of those days respectively.
