Runners can compete in either the 22-mile race or the 50 mile race. Furthermore, the Duchess of York Cup is a popular horse race that takes place every year at the Champ de Mars racecourse in Port Louis. This internationally renowned race took place for the first time in 1927 and ever since it has been considered as one of the top events in the horseracing calendar on the island.
