What's the weather like in Marsa Alam in December?

The year-round hot weather, many hours of sunshine and warm sea in Marsa AlamEgypt, make it an idyllic beach holiday location throughout the year. As a winter sun getaway destination in particular, though, it is hard to beat. It's the perfect destination to escape the cold winter blues.

Temperature

While the temperatures can reach peaks that can make it uncomfortable in the summer months of July and August in particular, this is not a concern in the winter. The temperatures are unlikely to drop below 20°C during the day and you will still enjoy fantastic weather, without it reaching the extremes. In fact, the temperature averages 25°C in the afternoons, making it pleasant to lie on the beach or do some outdoor activity. At night, the mercury drops to an average of 15°C. Both the average high and low temperatures decrease a bit in the course of the month, by 3 and 2 degrees respectively. The overall average temperature in December is 20°C, which makes it the third coolest months in the year, after January and February. The temperature of the Red Sea averages 25°C this month, a warm and comfortable temperature for swimming. However, choppy seas and high wind speeds winds make diving not an ideal thing to do this time of year.

Rain

As for rain, don't expect any. Wet weather is practically a non-entity in Marsa Alam, so simply pack for the beach and the hot weather. The total amount of precipitation in December is merely 2mm, which is practically nothing. There are no real days with rainfall to speak of either.

Sunshine Hours

The length of the days is almost perfectly constant throughout the month. December 1 has 10.39 daylight hours; December 21, the shortest day of the year, has 10.33 hours of daylight; and December 31 has 10.34 daylight hours. Cloud cover is also pretty much constant in December. It ranges around 39%, which means that the sky on a typical December day is mostly clear.

There is an average of 9 hours of sunshine per day in Marsa Alam at this time of the year. This is the annual minimum, which by all accounts it still quite good. Taking into account the fact that a day in December is about 10.30 hours long, a total of 9 hours of sunshine is excellent!

Three Corners Equinox Beach Resort

A superb four-star accommodation, the Three Corners Equinox Beach Resort is located in a beautiful bay called El Nabaa, a natural enclosure that frames the resort in a beautiful manner. The beach is no less than 1.3 kilometres long, 900 metres of which is soft warm sand, and is dotted with parasols, sunbeds and wind protections. A 230-metre jetty protrudes into the blue sea and functions as a marina. Excursions organised by the resort's own dive centre depart right from this jetty, eliminating time spend in buses or other forms of land-based transportation. Additional amenities include four bars, two restaurants, two children's pools, two adult pools, several sports facilities, and an open-air whirlpool.

Sharm El Luli Beach

Arguably the best beach in the area is Sharm El Luli Beach. Although it lies a fair distance outside of town0 kilometres, that ist is definitely worth the trip. For now, it is still completely undeveloped; there are no hotels, no bars, no stores, no toilets, no anything. This, of course, adds to the beauty of this particular beach.
