Hua hin Weather for June 2019

What's the weather like in Hua Hin in June

June marks the end of the hot and dry season, and it does so quite gracefully.

    Temperature

The average temperature remains steady at 30°C (85°F), its hotter end signalling the slow but sure descent into the wet season. The average high expected is 33°C, while the night-times stay tolerably hot at 26°C. Humidity is also steady at 80% on average, which makes the night time very much comfortable, with less oppressive dew points.

    Sunshine Hours

The days are slightly shorter, with up to 7 hours of sunshine, and significantly decreased chances of sunny days at 27% on average.

    Clouds

Chances of cloudy days jump up to 26% and chances of full on rainy days increase as well to a modest 20%. So what you'll be looking at in terms of general weather for the month of June is a pleasant mixture of hot and sunny days with some clouds and gentle showers to cool you off, particularly towards the third and fourth week of the month.

    Rainfall

Rainfall volume is not expected to exceed 80mm, spread over a cumulated total of 10 days over four weeks, so there is a great balance which will not spoil any holidays – and this is in fact less than seen in May.

    Wind

Wind speeds are low as well, further encouraging the notion of friendly summer time, measuring 1.5m/s on average and no chance of windy days whatsoever. It'll mostly be southern winds anyway, warm and breezy and best felt at night. If you're looking forward to a midnight dip, then this is definitely one of the many (if not all months) to do it.

    Sea Temperatures

The splendid Gulf of Thailand is expected to maintain its 30°C (86°F) average, so expect warm waters particularly in the shallow areas. However be mindful of the daytime and pack plenty of water and SPF protection to keep you hydrated and your skin protected from the exposure to what has now become an intense sun, especially if you're looking to enjoy a day at the beach.

    Hua Hin Beaches in June

    Pranburi

Given the moderate blend of gloriously sunny days and cooling summer showers, you can definitely go and explore the wondrous beaches of Pranburi, from Praknam Pran to Khao Kalok, one of the area's most beautiful strips of white sand, sea pines and clear, shallow waters.

The Pranburi district is just 26km south of Hua Hin, so you can easily jump on a train or bus in order to reach it. Its beaches are superb and unspoilt, never rammed with tourists. Paknam Pran stretches 8km from the mouth of the Pranburi River to Khao Kalok, a small hill extending out to the sea, along with a beautiful but small temple. This region has slowly developed over the years, and is home some wonderful resorts and restaurants.

The sight of squids drying in the sun used to be very common around Hua Hin, but since the city has taken its tourist plunge, that activity was left behind. However it is still a custom around the Pranburi area, where squid fishing and curing is still a major industry.  In fact, the turquoise coloured lights of squid fishing boats can be seen at night, twinkling in the distance in the bay.

    Bars and Restaurants

    Baan Thalia Restaurant

Inside the sumptuous Anantara Hotel you'll find the Baan Thalia Restaurant, specializing in Thai food. The service is absolutely excellent, and the chef enjoys speaking to the customers and getting them to sample some of the signature dishes. The ingredients are all fresh and locally sourced, and the menu is moderately priced.

For a nice mix between café and restaurant at great prices, you can try the Yummy Corner Café, which serves Thai, a variety of noodles and Asian dishes, as well as British and fusion cuisine. Last, but certainly not least, is the not expensive but very impressive Hin Lek Fai Restaurant. Its menu revolves around modern Thai, Italian and other international specialties, and the service is truly excellent.

    Elephant Bar

For a fun night out, you should definitely hang out at the Elephant Bar, part of the Centara Hotel Resort. This beautiful spot transports you back to the 1920s with its elegant colonial ambience. The dark timber floors, the brass ceiling fans, the jazzy white marble table tops and black leather armchairs certainly stay true to that splendid era! There's live jazz music playing, and you should certainly try a glass of Heritage Fizz, the bar's signature cocktail, another testament to the hotel's long established history.

Things to do in Hua Hin in June

    Wat Huay Mongkol

This month is perfect for exploring the surrounding sights and wonders of Hua Hin and its neighbouring provinces. You should certainly visit the Wat Huay Mongkol in Khao Takiab, a Buddhist temple – home to a giant Buddha statue commissioned by Queen Sirikit. It also houses the largest statue of Luang Phor Thuad in the world, set within a beautiful park which attracts thousands of visitors each year. Luang Phor Thuad was a legendary Thai monk, revered for his enlightenment and ability to perform miracles.

    Khao Takiab

And since you're in Khao Takiab, you might as well take the entire region in – and by that we don't only mean the vast kilometres of white sand and almost turquoise waters. It's one of the biggest attractions in Prachuab Khiri Khan because of its wild and natural beauty. Its name translates to Chopstick Mountain, and it's sometimes referred to as Monkey Mountain, due to the monkey population which reside there. The mountain is also home to a beautiful hill-top temple with sensational views of Hua Hin. The start of your hike up to the temple is marked by a large bell and a flight of stairs which lead up to the main shrine.

    Koh Talu Snorkelling Tour

You should certainly take the Koh Talu Snorkelling Tour – it occupies an entire day. A 30-minute sail takes you over to the first snorkelling site, with calm waters and plenty of fish. You should go easy on the food though, as the fish do get greedy and not all of you might fight a swarm of them reaching for your hands. Not that they bite, but you probably know the whole "strength in numbers" tune. You'll find some beautiful colourful corals around you, along with an abundance of marine life. The tour then takes you to another snorkelling site, after which you get to enjoy a delicious lunch on the island and a 3-hour relaxation session on a white sandy beach.
