What's the weather like in Ha Long Bay in December
Winter has well and truly arrived in December in Ha Long Bay, which is located in Vietnam, but that doesn't mean cold weather as the average temperature is still at a warm 19°C. This is still warm enough to enjoy days out on wildlife tours, cultural tours and enjoy plenty of water sports activities. During the month, you may experience temperatures high of up to 21°C and lows of 15°C which is the second lowest temperature in the year along with February which also has low temperatures of 15°C. Even when temperatures are at their lowest, you should still be able to enjoy some days out.
As the average temperature drops from the month before, the average monthly rainfall increases slightly from 12mm falling over an average of 8 days in November to 23mm falling over an average of 7 days in December. This is a lot drier than in the summer months when rainfall can as much as 265mm.
During this winter month, you will get an average of 8 hours of sunshine a day which is the highest in the year along with March, April, May, June and November which also have 8 hours of sunshine. With warm temperatures and full days of sunshine, you will be able to enjoy exploring this popular holiday destination but make sure to check the weather forecast before booking anything.
If you love to hit the beach when on holiday then you will be happy to know that the weather is good and the sea temperatures are still good in December with the average sea temperature being 29°C which is actually the highest in the year along with January, February, March and April which also has an average sea temperature of 29°C. You should be able to enjoy hours in the sea because of these very warm temperatures.
The chance of there being a cloudy day in December is 56% which is higher than the month before when it is 41% but is a lot lower than the month after when it is 72%.
As well as having warm weather and very warm sea temperatures, it also has a lot more hours of sunshine than neighbouring holiday destinations such as Mai Chau which has only 5 hours of sunshine in December compared to the 8 in Ha Long Bay.

One of the most popular hotels to stay in when visiting Ha Long Bay is the Royal Halong Hotel which is a hotel located on the Ha Long Bay waterfront. It is a popular choice for both those travelling on business and those travelling with friends and is a great hotel with equally great staff. All of the rooms available are spacious and well decorated and have stunning views. The rooms are well kept and clean and the outdoor swimming pool is equally clean and well kept.

If you love everything to do with Chinese food and noodles then you will love the Asian Restaurant which is located in Bai Chay. The food is great here and is in a beautiful setting close to the sea. Because of how close it is to the sea, they can offer the some of the freshest seafood around who could say no to that.
If you love a bit of coffee and cake in the afternoon then we recommend going to the Emeraude Café which is located in Quang Ninh. Once you have been here, you will want to go back every day during your stay for their delicious cake and coffee. As well as cake and coffee, they also have a great breakfast menu to choose from.
