What's the weather like in Altinkum in October

The final month of the summer season sees hotels and restaurants beginning to close their doors after another busy few months, and whilst many do remain open until the end of the month, you will notice less in the way of choice after the second week. This isn't a reason not to visit at this time of year, as you will find many large all-inclusive hotels staying open right until the very end.

Temperature

Altinkum experiences an average temperature of 16°C during the month of October, which can reach as high as 19°C on particularly warm days. The major difference is that evenings are starting to drop back down the chilly levels of the beginning of season, with an average low of around 13°C you will need a light jacket for evenings out and walks after around the 4pm or 5pm mark.

Sunshine Hours

The sun is certainly still shining throughout the month, with an average of 9 hours of sunshine to enjoy, and you can still head off and take part in plentiful water-sports and swimming, as the water temperature is still averaging a delightful 22°C, staying heated from the high temperatures of the previous few months.

Rainfall

The one big difference however is the likelihood of rain. Whilst this is more likely to occur in the last couple of weeks of the month, we are now looking at a higher precipitation rate, compared to previously, and although this certainly isn't a massive jump, it is noticeable. You will see an average of 41mm of rain throughout the whole month, which can affect around 6 days on average too. Downpours can be heavy, but they will leave behind very clear skies and pleasant conditions, so don't despair if you open your curtains to grey skies one morning! It is just a good idea to check the forecast when visiting at this time of the year.

For cheap deals and still very mild weather, this is a great time to head off and enjoy the last few weeks of summer.

Altinkum Hotels for October

October is the final month of the official summer season, and whilst many hotels are still open, you may find your choice slightly restricted as the month goes on. Dolphin Hotel is open for business and offers a great base for families and couples in particular, very close to the beach and local facilities.

Alternatively, Tuntas Suites Altinkum give you a choice of board basis, right on the beach, with pool or sea views to choose from. This is a great mid-budget hotel for both families and couples.

If you want something a little more upmarket however, head to Aquasis Deluxe Resort & Spa. This five star choice is luxury with a capital L, all-inclusive, and has everything you could want in your accommodation, with a holiday village feel.

Altinkum Beaches in October

The cooler temperatures of this time of year mean travelling around is easy, and for your final beach month of the year, October is a great time to head to Kusadasi and enjoy the large beach. There are many sunloungers and parasols for your day's sunbathing, with many restaurants and water-sports on offer too.  At around two hours' by bus, this is an entirely possible beach day out.

Bars and Restaurants

A taste of authenticity should certainly be ticked off your list when you visit Altinkum, and Ankara Restaurant is the place to try some traditional cuisine. Check out the chicken shish, for delicious flavours, as well as the plentiful mezes you will sample before your main meal.

For more main-stream dishes, try A Touch of Class. As the name suggests, this is a quality restaurant, which welcomes back guests repeatedly. If you want a huge steak, this is your destination, as well as being very popular for large English breakfasts.

If you're not sure what cuisine you want to try of an evening, head to White Garden Café, Bar & Restaurant. Basically, this restaurant serves every kind of cuisine imaginable, including Chinese and Indian. You can sit outside on warmer evenings, and the vibe is certainly laid-back.

Things to do in Altinkum in October

As October comes to a close, you will notice a much more chilled-out and laid-back feel around Altinkum, which is great for experiencing the authentic way of life. Walking around the resort is a good way to see more than you would have done when crowds of tourists were around, and the promenade during the early evening is a great place to start.

Of course, you can't ignore the fact that you are close to many other areas, such as the wonderful city of Bodrum, and this is a must do if you want to find some bargains to take home with you. Retail therapy might not be the easiest thing to achieve in Altinkum, so a day trip to the shops of Bodrum is a good idea before you head back home. If you want to shop designer names, head to the marina.

Whilst you're in Bodrum, if you're travelling with the kids or in a group, check out Escape Quest. This is a fun way to spend an hour or so, particularly good if you do get caught in a rain shower. This is a fun game, where you need to solve mysteries and puzzles in order to escape from the room you are locked in it's a race against time!

Despite all this, we know that Turkey is a cultural land, and it's important to learn as much about it as possible whist you're away. Gokpinar Retreat Centre, located just outside of Bodrum, is a great place to head to learn new skills, in the heart of a beautiful traditional village. You can learn how to weave a carpet, say a few words in Turkish, cook some authentic cuisine, and generally immerse yourself in this wonderful country and its traditions.
