What's the Weather Like in Ko Lanta in May
May is usually the start of the low season in Ko Lanta and a time when the weather can become much wetter. But though May does hark the start of the monsoon season in the Krabi province, there are still plenty of hot days too.
Temperature
Average temperatures of 29°C are very warm for this time of the year. However the climate is still a degree lower than the hottest time of the year during March and April. Though the Yang Garden Restaurant doesn't seem all that impressive on first appearances, once you taste the food you will understand what all the fuss is about. But walk along the candle lit path into the garden and you will be able to smell the incredibly fresh ingredients that are used to create some of the most delicious food you will have on the island. BBQ style meat is their speciality, but for vegetarians there is still plenty of other options. Truffle mash, rib eye steak and pork buns are all particular delights. Just remember to keep room for the chocolate fondant at the end of the meal. That is a treat everyone deserves.
Things to Do in Ko Lanta in May
Coronation Day
Coronation Day is one of the biggest events held during May in Ko Lanta and commemorates the day that the King of Thailand took to the throne. Held on May 5th, the festival is typified by the many street parties that are held across the island as well as tributes and parades. Though this is typically a local custom, residents are more than happy for visitors to the island to join in the fun. And, as this marks a public holiday on Ko Lanta, everyone will want to participate.
