Averages for Cancun in March
Cancun has idyllic weather all year long.
For that reason, water sports are extremely popular. Tourists and locals alike can be found on the beaches and in the warm waters at any time of year.
Over 25 different water sports outfitters are available on 14 miles of beach to provide basically any water activity tourists are looking for.
The Great Mesoamerican Reef, the second largest reef in the world, draws scuba divers and snorkelers, while the choppy waves provide exciting windsurfingopportunities.
There are also glass-bottom boat tours and jungle tours. Tourists can rent wave runners or book deep sea fishing excursions as well.
Because of the high level of tourism, Cancun is concerned with keeping the ocean clean, so all of these centres use equipment that minimises the impact of the constant activity.
The average temperature is 78°F (25°C) during March.
March visitors usually have the opportunity to witness the Carnivalextravaganza, which consists of parades and street parties and many more events throughout the city. Tourists have the chance to celebrate along with the locals and to sample authentic food and drink of the area before the Easter holidays arrive.
For food lovers, the Riviera Maya Wine and Food Festival held in mid-March is a must-see event. Celebrity chefs and winemakers from all over the Americas make appearances and there are many special events.
Locals celebrate a national holiday, Benito Juarez's birthday, during this month. They also observe the Vernal Equinox.
The Lasser Sailing Show also takes place in March, when the nearby waters are filled with various sailing vessels.
The Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort receives high praise. The hotel’s amenities are excellent and it has free Wi-Fi, while other hotels are still charging for the service. The pool area is spacious with plenty of sun beds and hammocks. The hotel’s location is nice, right on the beach and just across the street from a shopping centre and several restaurants.
Happy Hour between 3 and 4pm is a fun time to mingle with other guests, and there are many activities that are included in the price such as water aerobics and bingo. The hotel’s grounds are beautifully kept and all the rooms have an excellent view. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel for a fast, inexpensive way to see the city.
