Averages for Cancun in December

Visitors of Cancun may feel that, since the official summer months are over, they cannot enjoy any of the summertime activities that the area is famous for. This is entirely false. The weather permits beach activity all year long. Not only is it just comfortable during December, but it is actually very pleasant on the 14 miles of beaches in Cancun.

Sightseeing at any of the ancient Mayan ruins is incredibly popular as well, particularly given the recent attention to the history, culture, and especially the advanced calendar that the civilization created.

Others might enjoy the various shopping that Cancun’s inland areas offer. Whether tourists want upscale boutiques, department stores, souvenir shops or flea markets, they will find exactly what they are looking for.

Golf, biking, parasailing and a host of other outdoor activities are made extremely enjoyable by the lovely weather.

Scuba diving and snorkelling are extremely popular all year, thanks to the ever-warm waters and the proximity of the Great Mesoamerican Reef.

There is still the unlikely possibility that the area could encounter tropical storms and/or hurricanes in December, but it is much less likely than it was in the previous two months.

The Christmas holidays are celebrated beautifully in the Caribbean town, with parades, street fairs and passion plays.
