Weather lowdown

Cancun in Mexico continues to enjoy pleasant and rather tropical weather throughout May. This is another dry month with just 28mm of rainfall, hardly any more than experienced in April and certainly a lot less than will be seen in June. Therefore May marks the end of the drier season at this resort and so remains a popular time to visit, although cheaper deals may be found towards the end of the month as the wet season approaches.

This month the average temperature is up by a degree again at 27°C and lows will not ease off much at 24°C so be sure to take precautions in the sun. This is especially true as peak temperatures reach a very hot 33°C! The daily hours of sunshine are also slightly higher with 11 hours per day, so getting a tan is pretty much guaranteed.

Sea temperatures average 28°C by this point in the year and will remain this warm until December. Don’t expect a swim to feel particularly cooling, but it is perfect for extended swimming, enjoying water-sports and generally making the most of a trip to this tropical resort.
