Weather lowdown
August is one of the hottest months of the year in Cancun, Mexico, when the average temperature is 28°C. During this month, highs of up to 32°C are expected at the warmest point in the day, cooling down to 25°C after the sun sets. August falls in the middle of the wet season and with 150mm of rainfall over ten days, it’s likely you’ll experience at least one shower during your holiday. There is plenty to do in August in Cancun, when the resort celebrates a number of festivals. La Fiesta de Playa takes place in the middle of the month, with plenty of activities such as parties, barbecues, music concerts, competitions and cultural activities held at various beaches.
The Isla Mujeres Founding Day is celebrated on August 17th and is great fun for the whole family to get involved with. During this event you’ll have the chance to watch numerous street parades as well as join in with the singing and dancing in the resort’s squares.
Things to do
Temple of the Warriors is a must-visit during your stay in Cancun. This popular attraction comprises of four platforms surrounded by 200 columns and over 300 carvings of soldiers dressed for battle. Open from 8am until 5.30pm every day, the site is laid out like an open-air museum full of unique photo opportunities. Although facilities are very limited, the beach is an ideal place to soak up the sun or splash about in the medium-sized waves.

Just a stone’s throw away from a world of cafes, shops, bars and restaurants, this beach offers a variety of child-friendly swimming sections and rough, wavy parts which are more suitable for adults.
