Located in Quintana Roo, Playacar, Mexico, is home to some of the most luxurious hotels, restaurants and facilities in the Playa del Carmen area. Developed and grown over the years from a small fishing town, this is now one of Mexico’s most sought after resorts.

Both the temperature and the rainfall drop this month, yet both remain high. Heat-wise, visitors during October will see readings range from around 23 to 31 degrees Celsius, while rainfall is a moderate-heavy 214 mm. The sea temperatures are one of the highest of the year, reaching 29 degrees on average.

To learn a little about wildlife native to the Yucatan, stop by the Xaman-Ha Aviary towards the south end of the resort. The aviary contains many different species of local birds, including flamingos and toucans. Whether travellers are pasta fans or pizza lovers, there’s something to suit everyone.

The Iberostar Quetzal is one of the more expensive properties in the community, and rooms can cost from £135 per night, but this 5* resort has an all inclusive aspect which means food, drink and activities are typically included in the rate, so visitors expecting to spend a lot of time on the complex could be getting a brilliant deal. This hotel is especially popular due to the ancient Maya ruins onsite which have influenced the hotel’s intricate design.
