Averages for Playa del Ingles in March
Just a 4 hour flight from the UK and travellers can be transported to the warm and sunny beach resort of Playa del Inglés. Located in the Maspalomas region of Gran Canaria, it’s one of the most popular holiday destinations in Spain’s Canary Islands and caters to huge crowds of tourists each year.
Temperatures start to rise a little in March in Playa del Inglés as the spring and summer months approach. Both daytimes and evenings are very pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 16.7 degrees celsius overnight to 21.1 degrees during the day.
Rainfall drops to the lightest of the year so far, just 14mm over 3 days. After the winter ‘rainy season,’ March is one of the most beautiful times to visit Playa del Inglés as the town is very lush and green, in complete contrast to the barren, semi-desert look after the summer dry spell.
For a fun family day out, head to Palmitos Park, just a 30 minute drive north from the town centre. The highlight here is the dolphin arena with underwater shows each day, but there’s plenty more to see and so here including the colourful parrot exhibition, the aquarium and the lake where visitors can see komodo dragons and crocodiles. There’s meerkats, orangutans, a butterfly house and a prickly cactus garden too. The park is open daily between 10am - 6pm.
For a bit of authentic Spain, enjoy a tapas dinner at the Tapas Bar Capaco. Located just a 5 minute walk from the heart of Playa del Inglés this intimate eatery serves up all the favourites including cured Spanish ham, marinated olives and dates wrapped in bacon. There’s plenty of traditional sangria on offer here for a truly Spanish-themed night.
The 3* Aparthotel il Rondo offers rooms for £44 per night. Rooms accommodate up to 5 guests so it’s a popular choice with families and groups. Those planning to spend a lot of time on the complex should check out some of the all inclusive options to get the best deal.
