Bahia Feliz is located on Gran Canaria, the second most populated of the Canary Islands. Despite some diversity in climate, the Canary Islands are often known as the "islands of eternal spring" due to their consistently warm, dry and sunny, yet rarely excessively hot, weather. This temperate climate is due to heavy moderation by the surrounding seas.

While, the Canary Islands are officially a part of Spain, Gran Canaria specifically is sometimes referred to as a 'miniature continent' due the island's diverse climates with various microclimates. Gran Canaria has an alpine climate in the mountainous region of Pico de las Nieves in the internal part of the island, and a Mediterranean climate in the regions of lesser altitude along the coast.

Bahia Feliz enjoys the Mediterranean climate of Gran Canaria and, the town is favourably positioned on the southern coast of the island, which means it basks in the best weather of an island already famed for its clemency. Due to its location on the south coast, sunshine is particularly reliable at Bahia Feliz, with an average of over 3000 hours per year (contrasting with near 1500 hours over most of England) and rainfall is infrequent during the winter half-year and non-existent during most summer months.

The north coast of Gran Canaria has seen inclement weather in past years, including destruction of the well-known Atlantic rock structure, El Dedo de Dios (God's Finger), by a tropical storm in November 2005. The storm obliterated the thin, 'finger'-shaped rock that crowned El Dedo de Dios. However, the southern coast has not seen the same heavy storms, thus making it a sun lover's paradise.

Bahia Feliz is the perfect place to holiday for those who want to relax in the sand, under the sun, because the village usually soaks in cloudless sunshine for around 11 hours a day, during the height of summer. Even in winter, temperatures rarely drop below 15°C and it is common for the heat to soar up to a low of 27°C in August.

Indeed, the beaches are one of Bahia Feliz's most popular attractions, with spots suited to swimming, diving and surfing. The famous beaches of Bahia Feliz and surrounding towns also benefit from the resort's warm sea temperatures, which are typically between 19°C and 23°C all year round. The consistent yearly temperatures make Bahia Feliz the perfect place to kick back and relax 12 months of the year.

For those who prefer a drink to being in the drink, Bahia Feliz has open-air bars and restaurants to enjoy throughout the warm nights when temperatures tend to be between 14°C and 20°C. With infrequent rain (typically no precipitation at all in summer), the resort has become a golfing hotspot for some holidaymakers. Visitors should never be bored in Bahia Feliz, as a change of scenery, and climate, are nearby. The island's centrally located, highest point, Pico de Las Nieves (or 'Peak of Snow'), features snow and a far-reaching view as well as a completely different type of climate and set of activities.

Spring

March is often warm, with average high temperatures of 21°C and overnight average low temperatures of 14°C. Days in March become progressively longer and more sun-filled, a trend that will continue throughout the other spring months. Likewise, April is pleasant and enjoyable in Bahia Feliz. The consistent sea breeze keeps things cool, but the bright sunshine becomes stronger and stronger as the days merge into May, and summer slowly approaches. The average high temperature for May is 22°C, just above the historic average for March, two months earlier. Bahia Feliz starts getting warmer and dryer by April and May, by the end of which Bahia Feliz only has an average of 3 rainy days for the month and a miniscule 3 mm of precipitation.

Given the slight changes in temperature and climate throughout the year, seasonal shifts are hardly noticeable in sunny, dry Bahia Feliz, however the spring months on the island are particularly pretty. The temperatures are cool and pleasant March through May and there is very little precipitation. Characterised by bright sunshine and progressively warmer days, it is slightly surprising that the spike in tourism seen in January and February doesn't continue through these gorgeous months. However, it is the perfect time to take advantage of lower hotel prices and solitary beaches.

Summer

From June to August, Bahia Feliz's average highest temperatures are between 24-27°C, while the lowest average temperatures are 17-20°C. The sea temperature normally rises to 22°C during August. August is the hottest month of the year, with July temperatures not far behind. The daily average temperature in July and August is 26°C. The summer heat is perfect for beach and water activities, but infrequently is the heat on Bahia Feliz oppressive, even in these hottest months.

The summer months are also very dry in Bahia Feliz. It is common for July and August to pass without a single day of rain. When there is precipitation it is normally a brief rain shower or quick storm. Visitors can plan for day after day of sunshine, and Bahia Feliz will not disappoint.

With coastal winds, abundant sunshine (an average of between 11°C and 12°C) and often no rain at all, the summertime is best time to enjoy the best weather of one of the best climates in the world.

Autumn

Certain visitors will avoid the summer crowds and come to Bahia Feliz for water sports, diving, snorkelling and swimming in early autumn. This is because the sea temperatures are warm from the strong summer sun and finally reaching the shores at Bahia Feliz. In September the sea temperatures off the coast of Bahia Feliz rise to their warmest point at 23°C.

October and November are characterised by warm days and cool mornings and evenings. The days are also becoming shorter and precipitation and humidity build slightly. On average October has 10 hours of daily sunshine, while November has only 8 hours. These trends continue into the winter months. Despite these seasonal changes, autumn is hardly a bad time to visit Bahia Feliz. The sun still shines most days and midday can be warm enough for a dip in the temperate ocean waters, with an average daily high of 23-26°C on land.

Winter

Winter tends to be slightly colder than other times in the year (although still warm in comparison to other places) and more humid with average temperature between December and February ranging from 15°C to 19°C. However, Bahia Feliz is a great winter destination for those in need of some sunshine. Between the months of December, January and February there are only an average of 16 rainy days, collectively. This is far less than other places in mainland Europe. Most days are still filled with bright sunshine.

December is historically the coldest and rainiest month of the year in Bahia Feliz, with 33mm precipitation, however the festive season of Christmas and New Year keep the resorts full and atmosphere lively.

During the winter months visitors should also anticipate slightly colder seas (at around 19°C - 21°C) and less sunshine (approximately 7-9 hours per day). This can mean less time spent out on the water or swimming, however preparation with a wetsuit or other equipment might mean a holiday filled with exploration of the ocean.
