Averages for Sousse in February
Sousse in Tunisia during February enjoys mild weather. Sousse is a great choice if you’re looking for an escape from the bitter winds of winter. Daytime average temperatures reach a high of 17°C (63°F) and only fall to 7°C (45°F) at night with an average temperature of 12°C (54°F) making it a comfortable time to visit.
Although February competes with January and March as Sousse’s coldest month, it is rare for the temperature to drop below zero. Early February averages a high of anywhere from 15-20°C, enjoying mostly sunny days with an average of only one rainy day per week. Temperatures can climb quickly from 20 to 25° by the third week. This climb deescalates by the end of the month, balancing out into the high teens with mostly sunny skies. Rain can still be expected up to once a week. The coldest temperatures for the month stay between 5°C and 11°C (45°F-50°F).
The sea temperature remains at its lowest temperature of the year in February at 15°C (59°F). This is still warm enough for the adventurers who want to enjoy surfing, snorkeling and jet skiing, as well as those who just want to feel the cool spray as they walk the beach, so pack your wetsuit and enjoy the waves.
Humidity stays in the 60s and 70s for the first half of February, and you can expect it to stay there through the end of the month with the exception of a few 50 and 80% days. The daily average humidity for February is around 62%, making it quite pleasant.
The average daily wind speed in February has been around 16 km/h (that is equivalent to about 10 mph, or 9 knots). Things to do
The “Ribat” is a well-maintained monastery and fortress from the 8th Century making it one of the oldest buildings in Sousse. Learn more about Sousse’s rich history as you hear the story of soldier monks who took in travelers to teach them the Koran. Located in the northeast corner of the Medina, you’ll know it by its soaring watchtower. For an additional small fee, you can take pictures while you visit which you’ll want to do to capture the panoramic views from the top. Wear your walking shoes, though; it will take you more than 75 steps to get up there.

Dar Am Taieb is a favorite of families’ with children. An artistic phenomenon, this attraction offers art, sculpture, mosaics, decorations and songs as well as refreshments intended to please all viewers. Adults will love the marble works and pictures. This is not your traditional art adventure; many of the pieces are exquisitely strange and the Dar Am Taieb is known for being an eclectic experience.
Where to eat & drink
Restaurant du Peuple is great for families with children or if you’re dining on a budget and want to enjoy the local cuisine. This authentic Tunisian café is located just inside the Medina and is easy to find. The affordable prices don’t interfere with service; this restaurant is known for being fast and friendly. Be sure to try the favorite grilled fish with cumin, “poisson au cumin” and you won’t be disappointed.
You can find the Ristorante Una Storia opposite the Moevenpick hotel and it’s well worth a visit for your meal. They are known for excellent service from a friendly staff but you’re sure to enjoy their affordable prices, as well. The atmosphere is clean and inviting and the food is top quality. There’s a great range of drinks on the menu and the fish soup is a must try.
