December may be cold back in the UK, but in Salou the sun is still shining and the weather is very pleasant by comparison. Daytime temperatures still reach a mild high of 13°C (55°F) and can fall to around 4°C (39°F) at night.
If you want some respite from the cold British winter then this is a great time to visit Salou. Flights and accommodation are also much cheaper at this time of year, and if you fancy doing something unique and different for Christmas without breaking the bank, then this is the ideal way to do it.
Of course it won’t be warm enough to stretch out on the sand and top up your tan, but you’ll still be able to enjoy a pleasant stroll along the seafront at Ponent Beach and Levant Beach. You can take in the 16th century Torre Vella tower, which was once used to guard the area against pirate raids, and enjoy the view from the hilltop lighthouse.
The popular Portaventura theme park is still open at selected times during December, so you can enjoy the wide range of rides and live entertainment that the park has to offer without struggling with the large crowds that the summer brings.
There is much less accommodation available in Salou during the winter, but if you wish to stay in Portaventura there are several themed hotels that will include access to the park in their prices.
