Averages for Costa Dorada in May

It is starting to heat up in Costa Dorada as the temperature rises to an average of 18⁰ C per day and may even go to a maximum 22⁰ C.  The minimum temperature for this month is at a cool 13⁰ C.  Twelve hours of sunshine per day should give anyone sufficient time to enjoy the sights of Costa Dorada and swim in their famous beaches.  

Costa Dorada is not called "Golden Coast" for nothing.  The beaches of Costa Dorada is known for its clean, fine sand and clear shallow waters which is perfect for swimming.  The most famous beaches are in Salou  with golden sand and safe shallow waters ideal for small children.  Most popular with families is the Ponent Beach because of its long stretch of sandy beach. Meanwhile, Llevant is the longest beach at 1,200 meters wherein you can also engage in sports activities. 

Salou has a wide range of resorts and hotels to choose from at very affordable prices.  The Sol Piramide Salou Hotel starts at a very good price of £43.  It is only 400 yards from the beach, 15 minutes away from the Roman ruins in Tarragona and within a mile of the Port Aventura Theme Park. 

Another tourist destination worthy of a visit is the Natural Park of the Ebro Delta which is also in Catalonia.  In the Ebro Delta you can enjoy biking, snorkeling, canoeing, sport fishing, diving, waterskiing and other sports activities.  Excursions such as safaris, visits to oyster and mussel farms, and boat trips may be arranged.

In May, residents of Costa Dorada celebrate Labor Day or Dia del Treballadores in which they celebrate the economic and social achievement of the workers.  Tourists may look forward to seeing the Aplec de Sant Jeroni which is a dance performance reenacting the discovery of a sacred religious image.
