Dorada will expect some
occasional thunderstorms and there will be rain at an estimate of 5 days at 30
mm. We see shorter days at an average of 240 C and 11 sunshine hours
per day. Still, the warm weather should be more inviting as the scorching
heat of summer has gone and so are most of the tourists. There will be
lesser crowds at the beach and the tourist spots.
September 11 is the National Day of Catalonia or
the Diada Nacional de
Catalunya. Catalonia
commemorates on this day the 1714 defeat of the Siege of Barcelona during the
War of the Spanish Succession. There will be political demonstrations,
concerts, sporting events and parades.
The Sitges Wine
Festival and Gourmet Food Fair is celebrated around the annual grape harvest. There will be a
wine show wherein guests sample the best vintages of the wineries in the
area. Restaurants prepare their menus in celebration of grapes and
wine. Grape picking festivals and a grape stepping contest will also be
held. The feast of Sant Tecla will be commemorated with a weeklong
celebration with a lot of fireworks and daily parades.
Tarragona will also be celebrating the feast of Sant
Tecla with parades of
the mulassa (figure of a mule), gigantes, capgrossos and castellers or human
towers. The 11 day celebration in honor of Sant Tecla will also have a
pyrotechnics show, dances and masquerades. Another worthwhile gastronomic event
is in Sant Carles de la
Rapita where
the restaurants of the city prepare the traditional
food of Rapita and Ebro Delta.
