Benalmadena becomes pleasantly warm in May as the summer season kicks off and the tourists pour in.
Daytime temperatures now reach a pleasant 23°C (73°F) and only fall to a mild 13°C (55°F) at night.
There is much less rain this month, with the average being just 23mm; so there is a very small chance you may experience a light shower during your stay.
There are 12 hours of sunshine per day this month, so it looks like shorts and t-shirts are the order of the day, with perhaps some trousers and a light jacket for the evening.
This is a great time of year to visit to see everything the area has to offer. The sandy beaches along the Benalmadena Coast are clean and offer many amenities.
If you fancy getting out of the resort then you can take a cable car and escape into the mountains! Spectacular views await anybody that reaches the top.
The resorts have now reopened for the summer and there is a wide range offering all inclusive accommodation for a week’s stay.
The Palmasol Hotel offers from around £296 and is handily located in the Puerto Marina. As well as buffet-style meals in the main restaurant, there is the La Choza garden bar and the Piano bar with its live music in the evenings.
Playa Bonita has rooms from about £348 and serves buffet-style meals in the Restaurant Buena Vista as well as snacks throughout the day. Other facilities include several swimming pools and a gym.
The Benalmadena Palace is extremely popular and offers rooms from around £400 per person. Though it is within easy reach of local restaurants and bars, the resort serves buffet meals in the Restaurant Palace. Younger holiday makers will enjoy the Disco Pub, with its all-night drinks and live music!
