While October brings autumn weather back in the UK, it’s still very much summer in Hurghada. Temperatures range from 22 to 29 degrees celsius and there’s just 5mm of rainfall on average during the month.

You can expect to enjoy 10 hours of sunshine a day, and the sea water temperature meanwhile is bath-like 26 degrees.

The Yacht Racing and Water Skiing Festival comes to Hurghada in October. The city is one of the best places for these sports on the Red Sea due to the flat waters and shallow lagoons. The festival is quite the sight as it attracts many yachts and local water skiers. Visitors are invited to take part, but are more than welcome to simply watch the activities.

The festival is bound to have visitors craving more water sports, so why not try out some windsurfing? Red Sea Windsurfing offers a huge range of water sports in addition to windsurfing such as wakeboarding and kite surfing and operates from a number of top hotels in Hurghada including the Arabia Azur, Arabella Azur and Bel Air Azur.

Animal lovers won’t want to miss the chance to go horse riding Hurghada. This riding school takes in neglected horses and trains them so they’re suitable for riding across the Eastern dessert. Whether you’re an experienced rider or a first timer, the team at Mira Farm and Horse Rescue have the perfect horse to suit your abilities. Each trip lasts around one to two hours, but full- and half-day safaris can also be arranged which take place through the mountains. Riding lessons are available for people who have no experience, as are child-friendly ponies so the little ones can join in.

Adventure seekers won’t want to miss the chance to enjoy a day out with Bike Egypt. Based in the centre of Hurghada, this company offers daily safari tours which take place on dirt bikes. The trip begins with a safety briefing, followed by an introduction to the bikes and a test ride to ensure you feel comfortable and safe. During the safari you’ll have the chance to race along the dunes and canyons, as well as exploring several Bedouin camps and green oasis where you’ll be able to stop for lunch. Full-day and half-day trips are available for individuals, couples and groups which can be tailored to suit your needs.

A popular eatery for those in search of authentic Egyptian food, Omar Inn is a fantastic choice when it comes to dining out in Hurghada. Situated in the ideal place for simultaneous people watching and sunbathing, this restaurant offers a large menu full of Middle Eastern specialities. Diners can choose from a vast array of doner kebabs, shish kebabs, sizzling hot plates and koftas, all of which are served by friendly English-speaking staff.

The award-winning Shade Bar & Grill is one of the most popular bars in the whole of Hurghada. Boasting some of the best cocktails in Egypt, this bar features plenty of comfy furnishings which provide the ideal places to sit back and relax whilst the live rock band takes to the stage every Saturday.
