Benidorm is the perfect location for a beach holiday that makes it a favourite with all types of holiday makers, from families to young singles, with an active nightlife that’s helped it gain a reputation for being a party destination for the 18-30 crowd.
Type of holidays:
Generally speaking, Benidorm has a laid-back atmosphere that will suit older travellers and couples looking for a peaceful holiday.
Saying that, however, there are still plenty of fun opportunities for guests who want to spend their holiday partying and for those travelling with family.
Benidorm hotels are typically all inclusive or full board, because they offer such great bargains.
Main holiday season:
While summer sees the hottest and driest weather in Benidorm, making it the ideal time for a beach holiday, some recommend visiting in the springtime to avoid the occasional dust storms and brush fires that can occur between May and September. However, these things will not by any means ruin a summer vacation in Benidorm. Hotels are rarely less than 65% full at any time of year.
When it comes to excursions, there’s plenty to do in Benidorm. To try a little of everything, contact Benidorm Excursions. They offer every water sport, from sea kayaking to jet skiing, not to mention to mention activities such as paintballing.
There are several different companies that offer Jeep safaris. A particularly popular one is Moonlight Safari.
Marco Polo Expediciones Jeep Safari offer either half or full-day tours, complete with a swim in a lake with a breathtaking natural waterfall.
Several sailing excursions are also available in catamarans. Catamaran Sailing Alicante and Catamaran Sailing Altea are just two options visitors have.
For a different way to explore the water, Nisos Benidorm Diving Centre provides a memorable scuba diving experience that will be both safe and impressive for both novice and more experienced divers alike.
Popular sports and activities:
There is never a lack of exhilarating water sports and activities on the coast of Benidorm.
Cable Ski offers a variety of water sports, including kneeboarding. It’s also ideal for any beginners who want to learn how to water ski.
There are plenty of outings for families. Aqualandia Water Park promises a great day out for the old and young alike, with a variety of rides and an area for young children.
Right next door, often offering discounts for one another, is the Mundomar Aquarium, which includes shows performed by dolphins, parrots and sea lions.
For thrill seekers, a visit to the Terra Mitica theme park is a must.
Animals are a huge attraction in Benidorm, not least in the Benidorm Circus.
There are also two zoos in the area: Terra Natura features many different geographically-themed exhibits; while Noah's Ark is a sanctuary for older and abandoned animals.
Levante Beach, sat close to a lively promenade and the centre of town, is an ever popular beach that can be crowded during the peak summer months. With plenty of activities and rentals on offer, there is a lot to do on this beach.
Poniente Beach, just beyond the Old Town, has recently been revamped to include a new promenade, as well as the many cafés, shops and bars. As well as being able to sunbathe out on the golden sand, visitors to this beach can enjoy a variety of water sports.
Malpas Beach is close to the harbour and is usually quieter than many of the other beaches. It is the perfect place for any holiday maker that wants to be able to enjoy the beautiful coastline and fantastic weather in peace, away from crowds of tourists.
There are several different shows in Benidorm to suit a variety of tastes. The Rich Bitch comedy drag show is definitely not for the easily offended but is considered a must by many.
For classier dinner theatre, there is the Castillo Conde de Alfaz Dinner Theatre and the more popular Benidorm Palace.
For a night of clubbing, try the legendary Hippodrome club and KM Disco, both of which are open til late.
There are also plenty of bars and taverns in Benidorm. The Secret Fountain Rooftop Bar sits atop a casino. Guests can sunbathe here during the day and enjoy the entertainment at night.
Last Stop Sports Bar is a family-friendly venue, with karaoke beginning at 9 each night.
Most popular hotels/resorts:
Benidorm doesn’t have much of an ‘off-season’, so hotels tend to stay busy throughout the year.
There are a great many that offer great deals on all-inclusive and full-board stays for tourists on a budget.
The Hotel Avenida, which is handily located close to the beach, offers great deals and low prices.
The adults-only, Sandos Monaco Hotel is also centrally located.
For guests that want a more peaceful holiday away from the busier part of Benidorm, the Riviera Beachotel is outside of the busy city. The Marconfort Flamingo, too, is a little further from the centre of the action.
The group of hotels known as the “magic resorts” must be mentioned as well. Management offers a free shuttle service among the hotels, whose bars have conveniently begun to operate 24 hours a day. These include the Magic Villa Benidorm, the Magic Cristal Park Hotel, and the Magic Aqua Rock Gardens.
