Praia da Luz is a must when visiting the Algarve region. Located just west of Lagos, this blue flag beach is very popular during the summer, and should be moderately quieter in October. Dolphins have been spotted enjoying the surf and providing entertainment. On the western end there are several rock pools to explore. On the eastern end there are white and grey cliffs carved by the sea with a distinct dark rock formation called Rocha Negra, which is a volcanic strip from Serra de Monchique that extended to the sea.
