St. Giles Church is the most prominent church in Edinburgh. Situated on the historic Royal Mile, there has been a church on the site since the 12th century.
St. Giles has gone through many extensions, remodelling and even destruction throughout its history so the range of architecture is a marvel.
Inside you will also find an array of stained glass windows depicting St. Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland, as well as St Giles and St Cuthbert, a number of memorials and a glass backed pipe organ.
Greyfriars Kirk dates from the 17th century and was once the site of a Fransiscan Monastery. The visitor's centre displays information on the church's history and Edinburgh's National Covenant.
Here you can also visit the famous portrait of Greyfriar's Bobby - the dog owned by one John Grey that, when his master passed away, kept watch over his grave for several years.
