Averages for Copenhagen in April
Long live the Queen! The Queen's birthday procession held annually every April 16 at
the Amalienborg Palace with the Royal Danish Guards in
full ceremonial dress. Buses all over the city will be donning the Danish flag
as tribute to the Queen.
It is already springtime in Copenhagen but the days will be chilly at 60 C. So for a trip in April it is advisable to bring jackets, shawls and cardigans. Yet the days
promise to be bright with an average of 9 hours of sunshine per day.
The mornings and evenings may be cold, but the
days are expected to be at a warmer 100 C. This weather makes it
convenient to go sightseeing. The Christianborg
Palace is currently the seat of government power in Denmark. It
houses the executive, legislative and judiciary branches of government. The
first castle was built in 1167. The history of this castle is very interesting,
how it has evolved and reached its present state.
Another castle worthy of a visit is the Federiksborg Castle situated in the north of Copenhagen.
Built originally as the royal residence for King Christian IV, it is now a
museum of national history. This is an ideal excursion destination for
couples and families alike with the castle surrounded
by a lake and a landscaped garden, perfect for boating and scenic walks.
Also situated in the north and only 7 km from
the city center is the Experimentarium. This science center has over 300 hands-on exhibits where you can
perform science experiments. You can even try your hand at being a spy.
Hotel Danmark provides affordable yet quality accommodations right in the city. The
hotel has its own bar and restaurant and a 24 hour business center.
