April has the hottest average temperature of the year in Bangkok, Thailand, at 31°C. The average high is a whopping 35°C – also the year’s highest – and the low averages 26°C. the sea temperature hits its annual high, which it maintains over summer, of 30°C. Although boasting the hottest temperatures, April is also much wetter than previous months, with 110mm over eight days, which is more than double March’s rainfall. Humidity also increases, to 75%, and daily sunshine hours remain the same at nine hours on average.
April’s main event is the Phra Padaeng Songkran Festival, which is the official Buddhist New Year and a highlight is a huge water fight in the city centre, so only attend if you’re prepared to get wet. Alternatively, if you’d rather be in a different part of Thailand during April, Phuket has very similar weather to Bangkok.
