Burial of The Sardine in Son Carrio 🛐
The “entierro” is theatrical — a mock funeral procession for the sardine (symbolic cleansing), full of costumes and satirical floats. Son Carrió stages one of the island’s most colourful burials; expect fireworks, brass bands and plenty of local commentary — wonderfully quirky local theatre in public spaces.

Carnival (Weekend before Lent) 🦹
Known as "Sa Rua" and "Sa Rueta" (for children), Carnival in Mallorca is a vibrant and colorful affair. Parades with elaborate floats and people in creative costumes fill the streets, accompanied by music and dancing. The celebration marks the last chance for merriment before the fasting period of Lent.

Balearic Islands Day 🗓
March 1st marks the Day of the Balearic Islands – a public holiday in Majorca – and is celebrated with a variety of traditional markets, music concerts, art displays, children's entertainment and more throughout the island. For more family-friendly fun, head to Palma de Mallorca During these times, Palma comes to life with a funfair, complete with a 60 metre-tall ferris wheel. For the more serious-minded, Consolat de Mar in Palma - the seat of the presidency of the Balearic government - is open to visitors all day.
