Averages for Corsica in October

Corsica is a small French island located in the Mediterranean Sea, not far from the coast of Italy. The island is a popular destination for tourists thanks to its naturally beautiful and varied landscape. With beaches, mountains and cities, you can do everything here, from sightseeing, shopping and cruising to hiking and canyoning.

As you would expect from its location, Corsica has a typically Mediterranean climate with hot and sunny summers, however, winters can be cool and wet.

October sees a significant change in the weather of Corsica as autumn arrives on the island. Although the temperatures are very comfortable and suited for any outdoor activity that may have been planned, there is more chance of rain than in other months and holiday makers will have to work around this.

Rainfall almost doubles from September, seeing 87mm of precipitation throughout the month which makes October the second wettest month of the year. There are approximately 10 days out of the month that are rainy, so visitors may want to pack an umbrella to be safe.

The average temperature during this month is 17°C while day time temperatures still reach highs of 21°C which can feel very pleasant for autumn. Lows drop at night to 12°C, and while this is still not cold, it is advisable to bring some warmer layers to wear on an evening.

In contrast, the average sea temperatures stay summer warm, at 24°C, so swimming is still quite possible, even this late in the season. In addition, all of the water-related activities of the summer are still available, such as snorkeling and sail boating.

Corsica is an island of sun, but days are gradually getting shorter as the year passes. Nevertheless, October still sees 7 sunny hours a day, which is plenty of time to get a tan.

These rallies attract large crowds in all of the towns and cities that they visit, but are a fun way to spend a day in Corsica.

On dry days, one of the best ways to see the island is by bike.
