One weather hazard that can occur in Caleta de Fuste is a Saharan Sand Storm, which are some of the largest in the world. These are most common in the late winter and early spring and last various time periods. The worst sandstorms can last several weeks. Most are much shorter and nothing to worry about. You will lose visibility so if you are driving make sure to pull over, if walking, cover your nose and mouth. Those with respiratory issues such as asthma should make sure to stay out of the dust storm as much as possible as it will affect your breathing. Depending on the severity of the storm, flights and tourist activities can get cancelled and some restaurants and bars will close shop for the day.
