Known as one of the most fortified towns in France, Briancon features a year round temperate climate with cold winters and warm summers. Briancon is located at the foundation of five separate valleys and 10km from the border of Italy. Briancon experiences a remarkably sunny and dry type of weather as the town boasts over 300 days of sunshine each year. This is mainly because of its situation at a high altitude of 1850m above sea level and in actual fact is the highest town in Europe.
