Argassi is situated on the southeast of Zakynthos also known as Zante and was once a district of Zakynthos town but is now a beautiful seaside resort of its own standing and is one of the most popular resorts on the island which belongs to the country of Greece.  The capital of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Greece is Athens and the currency is euro.  The highest mountain in Greece is Olympus which is 2917 metres high.  <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The weather in Argassi is a typical Mediterranean climate, warm / dry summers with mild / rainy winters and extended sunshine all year round.  It has a lovely sandy beach which extends over 1 km and runs along the full length of the resort so it never feels overcrowded and you are never far from the sea.  Argassi is a cultured resort with religious and cultural festivals taking place within and around its vicinity annually, including the feast of virgin mary on the 15th August and the wine feast festival which takes place at the end of August / beginning of September, offering you the opportunity to sample some of the finest wines produced on the island.  The resort is also well known for its stunning views of the Mountain of Skopos which reaches an altitude of 758 metres and its lovely bars, shops, restaurants and major attraction being the array of watersports which are offered.

Argassi provides a perfect holiday destination for families with children and is one of the biggest resorts in the island of Zakynthos with visitors arriving from all over the world enjoying what this resort has to offer including the weather, culture and attractions.  You can look at the weather averages which provide a weather forecast to give you a good idea of when the best time to book your holiday would be.  

The weather in Argassi is hottest in the months of April to September and the coldest in the months of October to March.  It is mostly rainfall on the resort between November and February with the lowest level of rainfall being in May, June, July and August.  The average expected wind speed ranges from 8kph to 10kph throughout the year.

Spring

In spring the highest average daytime temperature is 200C and the lowest average evening temperature is 110C.  The highest temperature recorded in spring is 340C in the month of May and the lowest temperature recorded is 00C in the month of March.  Active travellers tend to travel in the spring when it is not so hot.  Some people also prefer to visit in the spring before the package tourism holidays begin.

Summer

In summer the highest average daytime temperature is 310C and the lowest average evening temperature is 240C.  The highest temperature recorded in summer is 420C in the month of July and the lowest recorded is 120C in the month of June.  The most popular time to visit Argassi is in the summer although the season does extend to the end of October.  The warm summers are cooled by a system of seasonal breezes called meltemia which are sea winds.  In this season the Argassi resort is well served by buses and you can hire cars, jeeps, mopeds and bicycles to get around if you would like to explore the island.  There are also plenty of organised day trips on offer.

Autumn

In autumn the highest average temperature is 240C and the lowest average evening temperature is 150C.  The highest temperature recorded in autumn is 340C in the month of September and the lowest recorded is 10C in the month of November.  Temperatures in autumn are much like spring but with an increased risk of rain but the sun can still shine between 7 and 8 hours per day in October.  In autumn, overall temperatures decline with cloudier days. 

Winter

In winter the highest average temperature is 140C and the lowest average evening temperature is 80C.  The highest temperature recorded in winter is 210C in the month of December and the lowest recorded is 00C in the month of December.  In the winter snow is possible and it is also the rainy season on the island but this does help maintain the green landscape on the island.

The island of Zakynthos is named after Zakynthos the son of Arcadian King Dardanus.  Dyonisios Solomos was born on this island who wrote the Hymn to Freedom whose first two stanzas became the greek national anthem.  The Pindus Mountain influences the weather in Greece with the western side receiving more rainfall than the eastern side so it is always a good idea to check the weather forecasts before you book and any weather influences.
