Alike many cities and towns situated in the central south
of the United
Kingdom; Oxford
has a nautical temperate climate and can promise striking scenery all year
round. The typical weather in Oxford
is very unpredictable. One moment it might be beastly and the very next can
experience nice weather. The Oxfordshire boasts the longest series
of temperature and rainfall records for one site in Britain.
There is a field of awareness that due to climate change, temperatures are
escalating in Oxford
and precipitation is decreasing in summer and increasing in winter. Records of
temperature in Central England have been kept in Oxford
since 1659. The records incline that climates have risen by more than 5.5°C in Oxford
since 1659. At the same time, there have been prominent changes to
precipitation, with marked seasonal trends for drier summers and wetter winters.
It is preferable to holiday in Oxford
during October and November
while the climate is pleasing and crisp, headed for the commencement of winter
Winter
January is certainly recognized to be
the coldest month of the year with the average temperature settling at
approximately 3°C. The average
minimum temperature is 1.2°C and the average
maximum at 6.6°C. Oxford
can be assured as a very beautiful place during the winter months and can most certainly
guarantee a downfall of snow throughout this time. The lowest temperature ever
witnessed in Oxford
was in January 1982 when the climate dropped below -16 °C. The coldest winter
ever recorded was the winter of 1962 - 1963, with an average temperature of
-1°C over December, January and February. This was evidently also the snowiest
winter on record, with a total of 67 days of snow cover. Snow is most common in
late winter and early spring. As a result there were only six “white
Christmases” recorded in the twentieth century. Snow is commonly known to
accumulate to a level depth of 203mm; this is the recognised average for the
Oxfordshire over the duration of its winter months.
Summer
Summer in Oxford isn’t exactly a typical warm
sunny day in the Caribbean.
July is naturally the hottest month with an average temperature meeting 16°C.
The average minimum climate can drop to 12°C and the average maximum can
occasionally grasp a high of 21°C. The warmest day ever recorded was in August
in 1932 when Oxford
sweltered in a temperature of 35°C. In spite of the month of August in 1932 the
finest summer on record was in 1976. Although its highest temperature of 34°C
failed to beat the 1932 value, the heat was extremely long-lasting with
fourteen consecutive days giving averages above 30°C. June is known to be the
sunniest month averaging seven hours of bright sunlight per day; this is vast
comparison with the two hours of sunshine per day in the months of December and
January.
