Ko Lipe, Thailand is an amazing island to visit as part of the Butang Group of islands. Koh Lipe, as it can be spelled, is still a natural island with little urbanisation. The main city has been updated and developed as of 2005 to bring more tourists, but the majority of the island is a national park. It is also near many uninhabited islands you can visit for a day. Temperatures are 27 C at this time of year with rainfall of 17mm on average. The rainfall has increased, but often it is a short time for rain each day allowing for enjoyment of outdoor activities like scuba diving, sunbathing, and hiking during most of your time on the island.

HM The Queen’s Birthday is an important day because it is the Queen’s birthday. It is a national holiday that requires Thailand to celebrate by closing businesses. It is also Thailand Mothers’ Day, so all mothers are celebrated along with the Queen. There are no special events or parades on the island for August 12^th.

Ko Bu Tang is also known as Stingray City, an apt name for this dive spot. Ko Bu Tong is part of the island group around Ko Lipe. The island itself offers numerous birds and animals to see. Macaques live on the island as does the Bee eater bird. On the North Side of the island is Monkey Bay. Visiting here you can see the local wildlife or dive Ko Bu Tang, which is filled with a sting ray population. The dive spot has some steep drop offs, but also shallow coral for snorkelling.
