When it’s raining in dreary in London you’ll often find that its beautiful and sunny in Brighton- you may find that you hop on a train at Victoria station thinking that the weather you are experiencing in London is NOT the weather you want for a sea side visit- although fortunately due to the moderation by the waters of the English channel, you can find you self basking in clear sunshine which London is overcast and horrible.

July and August are the warmest months in Brighton- perfect for strolling the pier or enjoying a meal at one of the many beach side cafes as restaurants. The average daily temperature in July and August is 17 degrees, though, like London, temperatures into the 20’s for days on end is certainly not uncommon. The beautiful coastal breezes off the English channel provide a refreshing breeze across the town and blow the smells of the sea into the streets- prefect on a summers day.

Whatever time of the year you visit Brighton you won’t be disappointed- the charming cobbled streets of the Lanes are reminiscent of the winding streets of Mykonos- so it feels as though you are in a world outside of England. The pier side cafes are unique and so typically Brighton- the sounds of sea gulls and the happenings of a seaside town are ever present all year round.

Obviously, as Brighton is in south east England, and south east England is known for is changeable weather and Brighton is no exception to this, so expect overcast skies and rainy days at any time of the year. One day of rain can be met with four days of sun, or vice versa- so comes prepared for either.

Winter, December to February, will recordaverage daily temperatures of 5 to 6 degrees- its no entirely uncommon for the mercury to fall below freezing, though it doesn’t happen too often throughout winter. Some nights can get particularly chilly, and when the cold breezes blow the days feel much colder, though the moderation by the warm waters of the British Chanel keeps the winters pretty mild. January 2007 did see Brighton covered in a blanket of snow- with the pebbled beaches white with snowflakes and the pier covered in a picturesque light coating0 quite a sight. Amazingly early morning swimmers were still seen taking their routine dips, despite the freezing conditions!

Autumn and Spring are much the same- Spring brings the colours alive in Brighton’s many parks and sees the mercury rise slightly in the build up to summer. Autumn brings the changing colours of the trees and can often see slightly more rain than the Spring months.

Whether it be a weekend getaway to escape the hustle and bustle of London, or a week long visit, Brighton is a perfect getaway with so many things to offer- theme parks, rides, games, an electric nightlife, little cafes with so much character and many upmarket places to eat, as well as a range of accommodation at different prices- Brighton has it all.
