Situated near the Pyrenees and located in close proximity to the
Mediterranean coast, Toulouse
benefits from a pleasant climate with loads of sunshine to create an ideal
holiday. As such, it doesn't get too hot in the summer, nor does it get too
cold in the winter.
Like
the climate throughout all of Southern France,
Toulouse’s climate is
very pleasant with mild winters, long hot summers and sunshine throughout all
months of both spring and autumn.
The enjoyable climate of this French city enables a
perfect vacation at any time of the year.
Toulouse features a mild, temperate climate and can be found in the
Midi-Pyrenees area of southern France, alongside the banks
of the Garonne River.
Offering mild winters, hot summers and a particularly low annual rainfall, the Toulouse
area is known for its sunshine and long summer season. The average annual
daytime temperatures in Toulouse
are around 20°C.
Summers
in this part of Europe are quite warm, especially in July
and August, when the humidity really kicks in and Toulouse
feels like a greenhouse. This is debatably the worst time to visit the city, as
the entire nation of France
goes on holiday at the same time during these two summer months. Travelling
becomes a nightmare and everything gets crowded and busy. With
highs of more than 30°C during both July and August, the
summer months does provide the ideal climate for Toulouse's
many vineyards.
The
spring and autumn are much more
pleasant than the summer season, with the former having the
least amount of rain. Mornings are also particularly nice and fresh at this
time of the year.
The winter months in Toulouse
are also inspiring, when daytime times during January and February average
around 12°C, and on occasion reach more than 15°C, although the nights can feel
a little chilly. Although the winter months between November and
February are nothing like the cold, snowy affairs of northern Europe, Toulouse
does see its share of days and nights with freezing temperatures and the
occasional snowfall.
The
ideal time to visit Toulouse is during the
shoulder seasons of spring and autumn. The weather during these months, in
particular in May and October, is generally pleasant and sunny, although things
can change quickly in the form of afternoon thunderstorms. Mornings are often
cool, while afternoons get hot and then it cool down again after dark. Best of
all, there aren’t many tourists at these times, so you can feel like you have
the city to yourself.
