Weather Overview for Mazarron
Mazarron enjoys a dry Mediterranean climate with hot
summers, mild winters and low rainfall year round. It sits on the Mediterranean
coast of
Summers are long and hot, lasting from mid May till mid
October. At either end of the season the average high temperature is usually
around the gorgeous mid 20s. It peaks in July and August at a blistering 31°C.
Night times in the fringes of the season are pleasantly cool, falling below
15°C, but in the peak months the average low temperature stays up near the 20s
which can be uncomfortable. Luckily, Mazarron sits right on the
Autumn, from mid October till the end of November, is the wettest time of year, though rainfall levels are not really very high. Sunshine hours lessen to six per day in November, and the average high temperature drops from 24°C in October, to 19°C in November. Night time lows are mild to cool, dropping just below 10°C by November. While the weather is a little unpredictable at this time of year, it is not usually disagreeable for prolonged periods; warm days are complemented by cool nights and the sea is still warm enough at 18°C to swim in.
Winter, from January till February, is cool but rarely cold
and usually much drier than more northerly regions of
Spring, from March till mid May, sees temperatures creeping back up from 18°C to the low 20s. Night times remain cool, increasing from an average low of 7°C in March to 12°C in May, but the sun starts to come out for much longer each day. Again, temperatures are unpredictable during the start of the season, sometimes rocketing up into the mid 20s. The end of spring is a great time to visit, avoiding the crowds and the excessive summer heat, but the sea is cool, getting up to an average of 17°C in May.
Mazarron benefits from its southern location which keeps its temperatures high throughout the year. The mountains which lie to the north of the resort help to protect it from rain-bearing winds from the north.
