Brisbane's climate is characteristically known for its warm pleasant weather all year round. Situated just above Australia's, Queensland borderline this city can almost promise residents and visitors an enjoyable experience of blue skies and temperate conditions at any time of the year.

Typically Brisbane is known for its very humid and subtropical climate giving hot moist summers and dry placid winters. The city is guaranteed to give sunlight at least eleven months of the year; this is, eight hours of sun per day but heavy rain should also be expected over this time.

Summer in Brisbane is recognised by its humidity and heavy periods of rain, giving some extremely hot days with temperatures between 25'C to 33'C. December to March are usually the months of highest rainfall with averages of 170mm of rain per month. In contrast to the rest of Australia, Brisbane and southeast Queensland commonly have the highest percentage rate of precipitation and humidity during the summer, making the experience sometimes a little unpleasant. Travellers from moderate climates may find summer especially hot, particularly on windless days when the high temperature builds up in the valley. Given the average precipitation Brisbane will suffer from an excessive amount of harsh storms during this time, particularly over the months of December and January. Even though the storms generally bypass quickly and at time put on an excellent lightning show, some extreme cases have resulted in sever damage to homes and businesses.

Winter will in general be sunny and dry - a safe place from the cooler temperatures of south Australia. Brisbane will hold average temperatures of 17'C during the day and on ocassions can drop to 10'C at night. Brisbane's hinterland (20mins from the city) can however become very chilly and crisp during the winter and can strike lows of 5'C. The precipitation and humidity during this season is exceptionally low and it is not likely for any rain or thunderstorms during this time. In the 2004 winter Brisbane and nearby regions experienced the most relentless drought in more than a century. Dam levels throughout the district fell beneath more than a quarter of their normal capacity and only recently rose again to the usual levels.

Spring through to early autumn are again frequent for thunderstorms over Brisbane, with more sever events accompanied by large destructive hail stones, torrential rain and harsh winds. Forecasts right through spring and autumn are reasonably similar giving temperatures between 16'C to 25'C. These months usually consist of beautiful sunny days followed by splendid nights.

Similar to any major city Brisbane suffers from extreme highs and lows. On the 16th of February 2007 Brisbane hit its highest ever recorded temperature at 46.4'C. Subsequently on July 19 in the same year the cities temperature dropped below freezing point for the first time since 1950, listing at -0.1'C at the airport.

In general, the city of Brisbane enjoys a very desirable atmosphere of luminous hot summers and lucid mild winters. These enticing characteristics guarantee that Brisbane is idyllic for guests at any time of the year.
