Thomson Airways is gearing up to welcome its quarter of a millionth passenger on board the 787 Dreamliner as its winter 2013 programme kicks off on 1 November. Inaugural flights to Jamaica, the Maldives, Thailand, Barbados, Kenya, Cuba, Goa and the Dominican Republic – both Punta Cana and Puerta Plata, are taking place over the next six weeks.

This summer over 240,000 customers travelled on more than 860 Thomson 787 Dreamliner passenger flights since 21 June 2013, to a variety of short haul destinations, as well as Thomson’s regular long haul routes Cancun, Mexico and Sanford, Florida and from the 1st of November it will operate its first winter flight to the Dominican Republic.

The 250,000th passenger will jet off for some winter sun this November and are expected to have a top flight experience, as Thomson has today announced a spike in its Customer Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ) scores results following the arrival of the Dreamliner into its fleet.

A massive 99% of respondents would recommend the airline after travelling on the Thomson 787 Dreamliner, and 97% of those completing the survey rated their experience on board the aircraft as excellent or good. The scores, which are collected on the return journey of a customer’s holiday assess performance on crew helpfulness and friendliness, seat comfort, in-flight meals and entertainment, guest recommendation and flight overall.

Carl Gissing, Director of Customer Service for Thomson Airways said: “We’re really excited about hitting the 250,000 passenger mark on board the Dreamliner and operating to some different long haul destinations this winter. As a business, we’ve worked really hard to modernise our holidays and the 787 has been a key part of that. We knew that customers travelling on the Dreamliner this summer would really enjoy the in-flight experience that this revolutionary new aircraft offers, so we’re delighted to receive such excellent customer feedback. As the Director of Customer Service, there is no better achievement than knowing almost every passenger on the Dreamliner would recommend the airline to their family and friends.”

The successful entry into service of the Dreamliner has meant Thomson Airways has outperformed on a number of its internal targets too. In particular, satisfaction scores for the inflight film, TV and music systems have increased by nearly 20%, following the introduction of the new on-demand systems offering a wide range of films, TV shows and music at the touch of a button.

Deputy Manager of the Nottingham Superstore, Grant Fern said: “We’ve had so much brilliant feedback in store about the Dreamliner and the excitement about the aircraft is still as high as when it was first delivered. I’ve travelled on the 787 myself and it really is a fantastic way to start a holiday. The comfortable surroundings, huge amount of natural light and excellent in-flight entertainment system really makes the plane incomparable to any other. The ‘Thomson Wave’ is a brilliant added touch too.”

Mr Fox, a customer who flew from East Midlands to Cancun on the Dreamliner in August 2013 said: “I would absolutely choose to fly on the Dreamliner over any other aircraft in the future. It was great being able to jet off on this aircraft from our local airport and what we really noticed was that the time just flew by. The kids were kept well entertained with the offering of TV shows and films and we were able to really relax. Usually after a long haul flight my family are incredibly tired but the really comfy seats and extra space meant we were able to fit in a good sleep. We arrived in Mexico feeling so refreshed and ready for our holiday to start. It made coming home a lot less painful too, as we were all looking forward to the journey!”

Thomson Airways became the first UK airline to take delivery of the Dreamliner earlier this year and now flies the state of the art aircraft to Cancun, Mexico and Sanford, Florida from London Gatwick, Manchester, East Midlands and Glasgow airports. From November, the Thomson Dreamliner will start its winter flying programme to destinations in the Caribbean, Asia and Africa.
