Weather in Los Gigantes
Los Gigantes is a popular holiday location in Tenerife in the Canary Islands, blessed with spectacular views and breathtaking scenery. Thanks to its location on the south western coast of the island, Los Gigantes enjoys some of the best weather in Tenerife, with generally high temperatures and loads of sunshine all-year-long.
Despite being classed as Europe, Tenerife is located 100km off the north eastern coast of west Africa and therefore enjoys a sub-tropical climate which is usually divided into two seasons – summer and winter – as opposed to the normal four. Whilst tropical climates tend to be associated with high humidity, Los Gigantes enjoys fairly low humidity throughout the year, so even when temperatures shoot up, the weather is rarely uncomfortable.
Like most places in the south of Tenerife, Los Gigantes is warm all-year-round, making this resort good choice for a holiday, whatever time of year you want to go. The summers generally see no rainfall at all with high temperatures often interrupted by intense heat from calimas and siroccos, whilst the winter months see much cooler temperatures – although these are still very high compared to the UK – with a small amount of rainfall. On average, August and September are the hottest months of the year, whilst January and February are the coldest.
Although the average sea temperature for the waters which surround Los Gigantes is relatively mild all-year-round, the best time to go swimming is between May and November, when the water temperatures are at their highest and swimming is most comfortable.
