Hua Hin; located 190km south on Bangkok, was selected as the royal resort due its outstanding climate and weather forecasts. Alike many regions throughout Thailand and also numerous tropical countries; the seasons of Hua Hin differ to a vast extent.

Hua Hin is fortunate, as it is fairly centrally located on a narrow peninsula that extends down to Malaysia. Thais will refer to these as “rainy”, “cool and dry” and “hot”. However many westerners would consider them as “hot and rainy”, “plain hot” and “even hotter”! Despite its annual average precipitation, Hua Hin gets one of the lowest rainfall measurements throughout the country.

Dry season
Generally speaking, the “cool and dry” season is from November to February. At this time of year, nights can get cold and the average temperature is 26°C. There is plenty of sunshine, although it is not as powerful as later on in the year. Although rain is very rarely experienced, tides are high and winds can be expected in the afternoons.

Hot season
The “hot” season extends from March to June. Temperatures can by far reach an average of 29°C, with daytime heat rising to 35°C and even higher. Nights are also hot and humidity tends to rise after dark. Tides are not so high, but it can again get windy in the afternoons. Towards the end of this season, the region experiences very light uncommon showers, but only in the early evenings and usually lasting no longer than an hour.

Wet season
The Rainy or Wet season lasts from July through until October. However, Hua Hin does not undergo the monsoon showers that the north and south of Thailand experience. Temperatures can be expected to average around 28°C with the evening’s humidity levels staying relatively low in comparison to hot season. Mornings can be overcast, but most days brighten up and become hot and humid. Tides are low and the sea is generally calm. Over this period of time rainfall will average at 200mm on the monthly basis.

Hua Hin is commonly enjoyable at any time of the year, even throughout the we season when there are typically breaks throughout the day. Another benefit of visiting in the rainy season is that there are less visitors and guaranteed low hotel rates. Generally speaking, the most ideal time of the year to visit Hua Hin is from December through to February when temperatures are relatively low and rain only falls occasionally.
