Bucharest naturally enjoys a continental climate, meaning placid hot summers and cold winters. Given that the capital and largest city of Romania is situated in the southeast of the country; Bucharest will generally provide varied temperatures all year round.

Winter
Winter temperatures are known to be relatively cold, especially during the months of January and February. During this season the city is recognised to be windy, although some of the winds are lessened due to urbanisation (the communal process whereby cities grow and societies become more urban). While Bucharest will give mostly sunshine during the winter months, temperatures are commonly below 0ºC, but are not known to drop below -10ºC. The precipitation during this time is mild, seeing very little rainfall.

Summer
Even though summers in Bucharest are famous for warm conditions, there is still not a great deal of rain. Throughout July and August; typically the temperatures are approximately 23ºC and they will rarely drop below 20ºC. In spite of this, during the peak of summer temperatures will still occasionally reach 35ºC to 40ºC especially in the city centre. It can be assured that the humidity and precipitation during the summer is moderately low; however the city is known to be effected by the occasional aggressive and forceful storm.

Spring and Autumn

During both the spring and autumn months the climate right throughout the town is well known for more mild temperatures. These seasons are recognised and are more suitable for anyone visiting the city. Even though the precipitation and humidity throughout this time is more than likely higher than the summer months, temperatures will always differ between 18ºC to 22ºC making the daily forecast a more pleasant experience. Spring and autumn in Bucharest are very close in seasonal range, both with more regular but yet milder periods of rain. May and June are well-known for the cities high range of rainfall.

On an average the city will hit highs of 17ºC and lows of 5ºC all year round. In comparison to central Romania, Bucharest is fairly cold during the winter but reasonably warm during the summer months. The air currents from the east are responsible for the extreme variation of temperature but given that Bucharest is not situated near any major coastlines or high altitudes in Romania, the climate is not likely to be effected by any irregular weather changes.
