The city of Bourgas experiences a temperately continental climate that is impacted distinctly from the effects of the black sea. Bourgas enjoys summers with plenty of sun and minimal rainfall. The mild weather for most of the year and consists of sunny days that facilitate visitors to make the most of the attractions that Bourgas, the main city on the southern Black Sea coast of Bulgaria, and the nearby beaches and nature reserves have to offer.

Winter

The winter is mild experiencing no snow. The average day temperature of the air during the winter is 4.5°С, and that of the sea drops to 8°С. January is naturally the coldest month of the year seeing average temperatures of 3°С, however lows of -1°С are commonly experienced. Although rainfall during the winter months is generally higher than the summertime levels are still relatively low middling at 42mm throughout January and February. Because of the influence of the sea the autumn is long and warmer than what it is in the country, and the spring is comparatively cold and usually comes one month later than usual.

 Summer

Summer is pleasantly fresh because of the steady movements of the surrounding air. The average day temperature of the atmosphere throughout the summer is 26.5°С, and the temperature of the sea water lingers around 25°С. There are between twenty four to twenty seven sunny days per month during the summer period with an average of ten to eleven sunny hours in a 24-hour period. Bourgas summers are also enjoyably long-lived with temperatures staying as high as 22°C in May right through until October when they still reach 21°C. This is also quite a lot higher than the many northern Black Sea resorts. In the height of summer the north-easterly winds help keep the temperature at a more bearable climate as the temperature commonly stays around 30°C in July and once August arrives the relative humidity will be at its highest. Indeed, summer in Bourgas can be heavenly. Near the end of May the sea temperature reaches 20°C. The average air temperature is still a warm 21°C in October and it can be a very agreeable time to visit the city but some of the museums and attractions do close in September. The tourism industry reaches its peak throughout summer with between eight and eleven hours of sunshine each day from the beginning of May until the end of September. Although Bourgas boats an extremely extensive and pleasurable summer season, June is just regarded as the wettest month in Bourgas with average rainfall reaching around 54mm, while December is just under with 53mm, but the rain will commonly only be short brief showers that bypass quickly.

Bourgas is an ideal summer sun destination for beach lovers, families and water sports enthusiasts, while the enjoyable, days filled with sunshine are as well ideal for sight seeing and discovering the area’s naturalness, rich culture and tradition.
