In preparation for the peak travel booking months, Thomas Cook Airlines UK has launched an updated version of its website, www.flythomascook.com. The new site is fully responsive for all desktop, mobile and tablet devices and on-screen window sizes – it automatically analyses your screen resolution, and then the content responds to your screen environment to allow you to view everything in proportion.

A recent study, by 8 Million Stories has reviewed mobile airline websites, and despite being Google’s top recommendation for airlines to help mobile users, none of the world’s top 50 airlines use a responsive design. In fact, only one site across the top airlines in the UK has such a site – flythomascook.com. To view the full study, click here.

Commenting on the site leading the way in responsive design, Henry Sunley, Head of eCommerce at Thomas Cook Airlines UK, said, ‘Over the past two years, we’ve seen a massive increase in the number of visitors to our site using tablets and smartphones as ownership and use has grown – but with a sales conversion below that of traditional desktop users. As we looked to relaunch our website, flythomascook.com, we considered various options to address this and we decided that moving to a responsive design was the best option.

‘The newly designed site went live in December, just before the traditional holiday and travel Peak booking period, and we are really encouraged by the resulting conversion from tablets and mobile devices, which has increased by over 30 per cent.’

Flythomascook.com now offers a more professional and user friendly way to review and book flight only deals and navigate your booking and add any extras – from meals and extra legroom seats to celebration gifts on board; truly high tech high tech, giving our customers significant improvements when they book their flights.

Happy holidays!
